Beautiful mountain...

Treskavica is a mountain in central Bosnia and Herzegovina, south of Sarajevo. With 2088 m. (Paklijes peak), Treskavica is the highest of the Sarajevo mountains.

On Mount Treskavica there are five glacial lakes that represent the most distinctive traces of the glacial period on this mountain.

Veliko jezero (The Great Lake) is at 1548 m. It is the biggest - 220 meters in length, 185 meters wide, and 6 meters deep.

The Great Lake

Other lakes:
Bijelo (The White Lake),
Crno (The Black Lake),
Platno,
Malo jezero (The Small Lake).

All lakes have specific flora and fauna.

WARNING

As a result of the 1992-1995 war, 3.68 percent of the territory in Bosnia and Herzegovina
(see BH MAC) is still afflicted by mines.
Unfortunately, Mount Treskavica has many mines.
Hiking is not recommended!
