Alpine GemsOlympic National Park is one of the most diverse areas on the planet. It's lakes are among the finest to be found anywhere in North America. Many Olympic lakes are extremely secluded, taking hours, or maybe several days to bushwack to. Often these lakes are glacier fed, or snowmelt fed. Hundreds of tarns also dot the alpine country of the Olympic Mountains. Together with alpine lakes, these tarns are a real treat for any thirsty mountaineer or wildlife photographer. Along the shores of many of these lakes can be found abundant plant life and wildflowers. After a hot hike all day it's always a truly exhilerating experience to jump into one of these ice-cold lakes and feel free from the cares of the world. No greater place than the Olympic Wilderness!
