It will be an album… yes… I think something more personal... I would
like to spend more time in the mountains than usual this season... or maybe
it'll be another regular year… hmm... Well, I just can't live without
them, the mountains... Anyway, my climbing partner and I decided to
dedicate our last trip to Piotrek Morawski. He died on 8th April in Nepal,
during a Manaslu Expedition, while acclimatizing on the Dhaulagiri normal
route a few days after I'd returned from my trip to the Tatra Mountains.
His death is a big loss for the Polish himalaism.

Piotrek was 33 years old, very smart and already one of Poland's top
climbers. He loved winter mountaineering and difficult routes.

thoughts and the reasons why I go climbing. Of course, many people who
climb may have similar feelings but his death has made me think about my
personal motivation more than in the past. He was my age and finished his
mountain adventures, or rather moved to another mountainous world. (His
body has been left in the Himalayas, according to his last will.) I am at
the beginning of this kind of journey, not so extreme trips, but I hope
they never end until the end of my time slot in this world...

We spent a few days in the Slovak Tatras. No people, no noise, just the
wind, brisk air and my thoughts. There had been some climbing plan but as
always everything depended on the weather and snow conditions in the wintry
season. And I have to admit I sometimes find reaching the summit less
important than enjoying the route. However, I believe it's worth trying
hard to achieve all such goals and dreams of ours, just like Piotrek did.
