OverviewThe Albula Group is a mountain range in the Alps of Switzerland, in the canton Grisons (Graubünden). It is named after the Albula River. The Albula Group is separated from the Oberhalbstein Range, in the north of the river Inn and east of the river Julia (Gelgia). The Albula Group is integrated in the eastern Alps of Europe and Switzerland and a part of the Rhaetian Alps.
The main valleys are Albula and Julia. The river Albula rising in the Albulapass 2312m. The Albulapass chains the villages Bergün and La punt. Other passes in the Albula group are: Julier Pass 2284m, Flüela Pass 2383m, Septimer Pass 2311m, Maloja Pass 1815m.
The Albula region has four precincts: Belfort, Alvaschein, Bergün and Surses, with the large villages Davos, Tiefencastel, Alvaschein, Bergün, Savognin, and Filisur. In this district the minority language rhaeto-romanic and german is spoken.
