The hills of the Berici Mounts divide the Padana plain (at south) from
the city of Vicenza (at north). This small group of low hills interrupts
the uniformità of the Padana plain when from south it heads to us
towards the Alps. Here the words “the preAlps”
have precise meaning: "before the Alps". |

Passso

The most important group of the Prealpi Venete e Trentine is delimited to south from the Lessini Mounts area and at north from the Vallarsa with her Pian delle Fugazze pass.
Its main and dominant
summit is Cima Carega (m. 2259).
All the group has dolomitic character, characterized from the presence
of highs, walls and steep throats. The name recalls the greater sisters,
the Dolomiti obviously, because of the chemical composition. The name
“the small” is because of their smaller altitude.
They have been interested by the military operations of the first
world war and many hikings routes today follow the old roads of war,
facilitating the access. But
the Piccole Dolomiti do not go underrated! Even if they recall the
hikers above all, the mountain climber will find mountain tops to you
“true” and shod ways and also the climber will find impegnative and
difficult ways to you. The main ways of access by car: from notrh the
Pian delle Fugazze pass and from south the country of Giazza, into the
Lessini Mounts.

The group developes himself
from Rovereto city toward the Pian delle Fugazze pass in sense west-east.
It leaves at south the Cima Carega and Piccole Dolomiti Group and at north plateaus of Folgaria, Lavarone, Luserna, with all the complicated
geografy of the "Altipiani Trentini".
The central massif of Monte Pasubio becomes famous because it has been
theatre of importantan and great battles during the first world war.
But all the group is signed by the WWI: still today many beautiful
hiking routes are carried out along the roads of war constructed in that
time.

The Bondone is traditionally the mountain of the city of Trento.
Its four tops are easily to catch up by the asphalted road that leads
to the little plain "named Viotte" that during winter is transformed as the nordic ski-center of the city. Towards south the group is joined
with Monte Stivo by one long ridge lacking but of hiking support points.

Known also with the name of
“Altopiano dei Sette Comuni” is located at south of the Valsugana and it
is pushed until the plain of Vicenza. Delimited at west by the deep Val
d'Astico, that separates it from the plateaus of Trentino. At east is

The most alpine interesting mounts are found in the north chain, that he is falling to the Valsugana valley with unevennesses of 1500 meters. From Porta Manazzo pass to SW Its greater tops are found at north, from where they dominate by precipices more than 1500 meters the Valsugana valley. |

Lavarone-Folgaria-Luserna: these three plateaus with
their forests and grass for alpine mountain barns are usually
considered as a single unit, even if they are separated by furrows and
deeps valleys (make reference the geographic image).
 Folgaria-Lavarone plateaus
For their uniformity some
interesting reliefs also for the hiker and the mountain climber are
raised. Not interesting for the
mountain climbers, they can be interesting under the landscaped,
historical and cultural profile
Like also in the plateau of
Asiago, the WWI has had one of its here “hot spots” especially during
the “Strafexpedition” in 1916. The country of Luserna is inhabited from
a Cimbri community where still today the ancient language is spoken
about this ethnic minority. |

Small and isolated group situated at east of the city of Trento. It divides the city from the Caldonazzo lake, that it is found in Valsugana. Usually used on sunday by the Trento folks, because of its easy paths. Not important for alpinists, it has a particulary place into the history of local alpinsts because here is (near the Pino Prati refuge) the historical cliff arena “ai
Bindesi” where they have begun
generations of mountain climbers.

Wide massif not great height (m. 1755), staying between the Brenta river at west and the Piave river at east.
At north is defined from the valleys that joins the flat one of Fonzaso with the cities of Feltre and Belluno.
At south finishes with the Padana plain and more just with the city of Bassano of the Grappa and hills of Asolo. Alpine not interesting, its certain reputation is due to
the vicissitudes tied to the first world war. To its top it accommodates
a great cemetary of the war fallen. Today it is above all a reference
for the tourists who go up from the plain taking advantage itself also
of the asphalted road that reaches the top.
