DigglerIf that doesn't look weird...

I have no idea what does! Looks like some kind of M.C. Escher drawing, or something. Echt der Wahnsinn! Thanks for sharing.

I have always wanted to do this picture, when I was in the region. But my girlfriend told me not to - just kitsch. Then I had to sneek up onto Seebödenspitze high above the lake - all alone of course - to take this one

:-)

Cheers

In the Alps this is a well-known and popular postcard picture. This of course due to the main road that is just behind the photographer. But probably the tower in the water also avokes archaic memories of the bible story about the big Flood. Perhaps the "Escher"-effect comes from the mirror image of the tower that falls in one and it's shadow that falls in another direction?

Do they still maintain this building? It looks very good for something that is flooded since 1940..

It's the regional landmark of the Vinschgau valley (Val Venosta in Italian). Just have a look at their info page. Looks familiar, doesn't it?

I'm pretty sure they do maintain it but I saw a TV-report last year that stated that the village of Graun, to which the church belongs is cut out from almost all revenue that the tourist associations of Vinschgau make.
