OverviewThe Fädnerspitz is located in the Verwall Alpe in the western part of Tirol. It isn't much frequented, so if you want to be alone, this is the mountain. The nearest village is Galtür, which is know because of the avalanche that struck the village in the winter of 1998-1999. No avalanche had struck the village in the latest centuries. More than 20 people were killed and many others were hurt.
From the summit you have a great view over the Silvretta in the south.
Getting ThereAt the start of the route there is a lodge called Zenisjochhaus where one could spend the night. For this climb this isn't necessary.
If you are staying in the Paznauntal, Zenisjochhaus can easely be reached by bus or car. There even is a quite large parking place at the border of the Kopsstaussee, just ten minutes away.
The start of the route is in the corner of the parking in front of the Zenisjochhaus. If you can't find it, just ask in the lodge.
From Zenisjochhaus it takes 2,5 hours and 1000 m of elevation to reach the summit. The hour takes you to two towers of stone at 2350m. Then you have to follow the ridge. There are some tricky parts, but not very dangerous. The way down is the same.
Red TapeNo fees required, but to go to the Zenisjochhaus, yous must pay appox. 10 to 12 Euro for acces to the Silvrettahochalpenstrasse. No parking fees at Zenisjochhaus.
When To ClimbFrom June to September, as long as there is no fresh snow.
Also possible in winter for skitouren
CampingThere is little camping site at the Zenisjochhaus. There are, I think, six places. Even in summer, there is a possibility that you wake up with 20 cm of snow (this happend twice in July during the last two years).
Mountain ConditionsSame as for Galtür.
