Overview
Lat/Lon approx as we did not have GPS with us when we found it. This is listed in the 'Climber's Guide to Oregon' 1968 edition. Very interesting looking rock formation. Sean climbed NE corner (I-2) to top but left our rope and gear at bikes so didn't try any other routes as the sun was going down. Look forward to coming back and trying other routes on this rock mass.
Has anyone ever climbed this rock?
Getting There
Leaving Sisters Oregon, turn right on Forest Rd 14 heading toward Camp Sherman. Stay on Rd 14 untill it turns left (West) to cross the Metolius River to Lower Bridge Camp Ground (approx 12 mi). Continue going straight on a dirt Rd for a short ways to a locked gate and park. Sign 'no motorized vehicles'. Rode our bikes from locked gate for 6.8 mi on dirt road along the Metolius River (very beautiful ride) then bushwacked cross country (East) for 1/4 mi or so.
Red Tape
As far as I know there are no permits, fees, etc. required at this time.
When To Climb
We were there in June and it was perfect weather. Watch for the ticks though.
Camping
Several campgrounds nearby but you could pack in and camp most anywhere. Stay on the East side of the river! West side is Warm Springs Indian Reservation and they don't take kindly to trespassers!
Mountain Conditions
I don't think many climbers (or anyone else) know of this peak. Elevation is around the 3000 foot level.
