OverviewBonneville Peak is the highest point in the Portneuf Range. This impressive mountain rises prominently above the Marsh and Portneuf Valleys about 15 miles southeast of Pocatello. Bonneville Peak is located in the Caribou National Forest. It is best known for the Pebble Creek Ski Area, which is located on its western slopes. With an elevation of 9,271’, Bonneville Peak ranks way down on the Idaho elevation list. But the new field of Prominence has made Bonneville Peak a more important mountain. With a prominence of 3,401’, Bonneville Peak is big enough to make an appearance on the Idaho Prominence Map.
Getting ThereFrom Pocatello, drive south a few miles on Interstate 15, then take Exit 58 at Inkom. Follow the signs towards the Pebble Creek Ski Area. The directional signs soon disappear, but you will just drive up to the ski area on Green Canyon Road. This is also known as Forest Road 210. The Green Canyon Road is paved, and is about 4 miles long. The road has a steep grade in places. Follow the road to the upper parking lot and park. The elevation here is about 6,640’.

CampingThere are no developed campgrounds along the access road to Bonneville Peak. However, there are several Forest Service campgrounds in the general area. You can also probably car camp in the ski area parking lot. External LinksCaribou National Forest
