You can donate to support search efforts at the link below - even a few dollars will help the family cover costs to try to find him. Please consider sharing this link to spread the word.

There is also a Facebook group you can join and share called Search for Steven at https://www.facebook.com/groups/245085129311718/

Steven Scott Beare is a Colorado police officer with the Littleton Police Department. Steven has gone missing during an expedition to climb Mt Elbrus. Mount Elbrus is the highest mountain in Russia, and the tenth most prominent peak in the world. Mt Elbrus is located in the Caucasus Mountains in Southern Russia, near the border with Georgia. Steven is married and his wife is 11 weeks pregnant. They have a 20-month-old son, and 3 loving puppies who miss him very much

Steven was confirmed missing on Mt Elbrus in Russia while climbing when he did not check back in at his check-in point on June 16th. He has extensive training on mountaineering and cold weather. He is an avid mountain climber and his goal is to summit the seven world summits. Mount Elbrus is one of them. Steven was confirmed alive as of the June 17th when he attempted phone calls from the mountain. His exact location was unknown due to a severe blizzard on the mountain.

Steven’s family and friends are working with professional climber Don Bowie organizing a private search team of highly trained and experienced mountain climbers/rescuers. He is a professional high-altitude climber from Alberta, Canada who has extensive experience at mountain search and rescue. Mr. Bowie will be the team leader of this highly trained and experienced mountain rescue team, and he is currently working on hiring helicopters necessary for the search/rescue.

Time is of the essence and it is crucial to put the resources in place to start this search quickly. The effort to get this going is an expensive undertaking. The family has limited means for funding and is reaching out to the public for donations. Donations will be managed and distributed by the Colorado Police Officers Foundation through this website.

Steven's wife, Olivia, is asking if there are any climbers with rescue experience who would be able/willing to go to Russia to support the search efforts on Mt. Elbrus. US military can't get clearance to support the rescue. If you know anyone and for more information about logistics please contact Olivia Beare through the Facebook group Search for Steven at https://www.facebook.com/groups/2450851 ... nref=story

Steven's wife Olivia posted an update yesterday. The Russian SAR will call of the search tomorrow. Don Bowie is continuing search efforts day by day. Steven has been missing for two weeks. They have had two helicopters searching when weather has allowed. Here's a video of the heli rescue efforts:

If you can, please consider donating to help Olivia and the family cover the costs of the search. http://www.coloradopolicefoundation.org ... for-steven
