So those of Cogne, after the conquest of Gran Paradiso and Grivola both lost in 1859/60 with those of Valsavarenche, came up with the view from Pousset.
A small but beautiful rocky pyramid
(3064m) that hangs over the heads of the inhabitants of Crétaz and Cogne and soon known as the
"Gorner-grat Cogne". Do not ask who did the climb first, because I do not know how to say to you even those of Cogne. The
Pousset is the Pousset and just. From there it dominates the whole of the Gran Paradiso Chain, but then the view gets to that of Mont Blanc and runs on all the Pennine Alps. In spite of the Becca di Nona and especially to those of Valsavarenche. Otherwise it was going to Tersiva from Urtier Vallon as it was in August 23, 1842 by the Curé of Cogne Pierre Balthazar Chamonin with a student, or along the Grauson from August of 1877 by D.W. Freshfield with F. Dévouassoud, both always via the North-northwest Crest. In Valsavara Grivola it was too dangerous as the
"Granpa" always remained for the masses a
"taboo" so much so that, to discredit the whole, the Abbé Henry in 1931 he led the donkey Cagliostro. But one must not forget that in those days they starts from Villeneuve
(670m) walk to get to
4061 metres. Better a long but easy hike to the
Bioula (3414m) with the trail going from
Royal Camp of Orvieille, again without creating itself problems for those who had to climb as the first. In Val di Rhêmes an easy trip to the
Becca de la Traversière (3377m) or a crossing of the glacier towards the Punta Galisia (3446m) from Punta Bousson, as they did Giovanni Bobba with Casimire Thérisod, first local Guide. Admiring on one side the
Granta Parei (3387m) and on the other the high wall of the
Grande Rousse (3607m), both from here deemed too difficult or impossible for to become fashionable. The same considerations they are valid in Valgrisenche for the
Grande Sassière (3751m). Better the usual Becca of Traversiere or an easy climb to the
Ormelune or Archeboc (3278m) or a relaxing ride to the
Col du Mont or Lake San Grato (2639m, 2466m) at the foot of the
Testa of Rutor or Ruitor (3486m ). The latter is the most popular destination in the Valley of La Thuile through large glaciers, or settle for the
Monte Belvedere (2641m) above the Little St Bernard Pass or
Mont Colmet Becca Poignenta (3024m, 2827m) in the above Conca Arpy. We arrive in front of the
Mont Blanc (4810m), to observe that, in addition to
Mont Crammont (2737m) of Horace Bénédict, was fashionable neighbor with the imposing
Mont Chétif (2343m). Most experts arrived in his heart reaching the Tour Ronde (3798m) observing the ropes in tail at the base of
Giant's Tooth (4014m), where a protest against the fixed ropes the Fiorelli Guide in 1910 had risen to barefoot. Better to go to the
Great Rochère (3326m) and the next
Mont Fallère (3061m) or to the Great St. Bernard, while from the Valpelline is admired
Becca di Luseney (3503m) which later became justly famous. But with rising after a glimpse at
Faroma (3073m), by St. Barthélemy Valley, while further East appeared
Zerbion (2720m) with its high Madonna and in distance the
Rosa Chain in search of
"Rock of the Discovery" by the Gressoney Walser with Johann Nicolas Vincent and two local Miners,
avoiding Matterhorn Lyskamms that, in those days, were thing certainly not what directed, dedicated to the mass ...
