Easy Trek
Climbed it with a college friend. Probably the hardest part was trying to locate the "trailhead," which is just an orange 'HP' written on a tree on the side of the road.

A fine trail!
An enjoyable, easy hike up from the road. The trail blazes are gone, but the route is simple enough to follow. We had the summit to ourselves.

4X4ed almost to peak
Ended up driving my 4X4 SUV almost to the peak, then walked the last 200 yard to peak. Nothing to see from up there, but bagged off another high point.

Highpoint #13
So did anybody know that there is another backbone mountain in Maryland 30 minutes away. I wondered around there for 40 minutes trying to find the highpoint via Mapquest directions. Finally I pulled out a map and realized I needed to be 20 minutes south of Oakland and not at Backbone Mountain 20 minutes east of Oakland. After that the hike was great, I really enjoyed it and bagged numbers 14 and 15 the same day.

Took old route
Strugged up the side of the hill by the powerlines area through the thick brush, dense woods and no trail along the ridge. The summit has really changed over the years.

After driving from PA’s high point, we made the summit after a short climb. There was not much of a view on top, but the pick nick table was great to sit on. After signing the registry and taking a few pic’s we walked back down.
We hiked up the lush trail in high heat and high humidity.

Standard Trail
Erin and I hiked up Backbone in the rain yesterday. No views to speak of, but we had fun scrambling on the slippery rocks near the state boundary marker. Then we drove on to bag the PA highpoint.
