beautiful day
With Flanders on the way to the airport basically. Easy up. Annoying people on the rock structure so we found a higher spot a bit away and assumed that is the real summit.

From the CT/MA line
Started at the AMC parking lot on Washington Rd near the CT/MA line. After about 3/4 mile I turned right on the AT trail and climbed to the summit of CT's highest mountain (which is not the highest point in CT- that belongs to the shoulder of Mt. Frissell at the CT/MA line). Had the summit to my lonesome.

A Good Season-Starter
I've climbed this a few times, and each time is fun. The views are nice, and it is pretty evenly paced. It's a good way to start the season, or to take people who aren't regular hikers. If you make it in early June, the trail is covered in mountain laurel.
Seventy five minutes to the top from the Undermountain TH on Route 41. Sixty two minutes down. No views in the fog but that was a serious summit cairn.

A rainy day on the AT
It was well worth taking on a monsoon to climb bear.

Relaxing Hike
An easy hike in great weather with beautiful views. The summit was super crowded! I hiked this as part of my highpointing goal and wanted to make sure that I got both this and Frissell, just in case. Then again, it's not as if I need an excuse to hike!

Barely a mountainThis is barely a mountain, but it's still a nice hike. I much prefer Lantern Hill - before the casino.

Hazy SummitBrutally humid day in the 90's. Hiked Round Mtn, Mt Frissell and then on to Bear Mtn. Nice hazy views of the valley from summit monument.
