Long Day
The hike took about 6 hours in each direction. Snow shoed most of the way, switched to crampons on the final summit push. Freezing temps and lots of lots of snow!

Drove up to Inspiration point, 9,422 ft, then wandered over to Willard Peak, 9,764 ft, and continued on to Ben Lomond, 9,712 ft. Ascending Willard I spoted one goat, coming down we spoted a herd of 12, which ran away, but when we reached them again there was at least 25 or 30 of them. I have never seen that many mountian goats at once. On the drive out we saw three mooses in Perry Reservoir. I can understand why "goat man" was hanging out in the area a few months ago.

No Goat Man
Solo from N Fork park. That night's evening news reported on the "Goat Man Sighting" on Ben Lomand. I did not see any goats; animals or humans with goat costumes. Great day, fantastic weather. Only saw one other hiker.

Inspiration Point to Ben
Drove to Inspiration Point and walked over to Willard Peak. Couldn't find a great route to the top, but made it, and then walked over to Ben Lomond, which was much easier to summit. Great views. First time on Willard and Ben.
Hiked up from North Fork Park up to Ben Lomond. What a great hike for wildflowers. I would suggest going in June however.

double your pleasure
Easy drive to Inspiration Point - good road, high clearance a must, 4WD not required. I read that the road was very rough but it was not. Daughter, Son, a friend and the dog ridge climbed from Inspiration toward Willard Peak. Continued on to Ben Lomond for lunch. Saw several Mt Goats. Signed the log. Took the lower trail below Willard back to IP. Saw a big Rattle Snake below Willard. About 5 miles round trip.

Skyline Trail
Hiked along the long, but scenic Skyline Trail from the North Ogden Divide Trailhead with my cousin David. The overall grade of the trail was very gradual, except for the last steep part where we had to bypass some lingering snow near the top. See "Skyline Trail" trip report for details.

On the Way to Willard
Stopped on the way for pictures and a snack. Cold.
#1 7-22-05 W/ Kimball, my son. Along with Willard Peak. A long day but rewarding views. #2 & #3 8-30-14 From North Ogden Divide TH. Hit B.L. both going in and returning after the sub-peak north of Willard Pk and Willard. About 95 mountain goats grazing below the trail below Willard's summit area. IVD
Started and ended at divide. Nice gradual ascent. Great views. This massif has great potential on all sides for great routes.

Saw 20 goats near top!
Great weather day -- doesn't get any better. Saw 20 goats near the top, including 8 kids. Were lucky enough to see a mama grouse leading some baby grouses down the trail, also. We started at North Fork Park. Trail crews have been working hard; the trail is the best I've seen it EVER!

North Ogden Divide
Summited twice today. Once on the way to Willard Peak, and topped it out again on the way back. Great day, climbed with my wife and 12 year old son, brother in law, and some neighbors. Still a lot of snow on the east face which required lots of kick steps, but made for great glissading on the way down. Lots of goats. Found a "Rubber Boa" snake on the trail, and a huge rattler just below Willard. It was very sluggish and slow. I was surprised to see one that high. Great day! Just under 12 hours to Willard round trip with a long lunch break on Willard Peak.

Coupled with Willard
Did Willard first, didn't find a registry, very little human activity, and thought I'd have the whole mountain to myself. Then I walked the ridge south to Ben Lomond and found a celebrity! I don't really know why Ben Lomond is so famous, but good gravy! it put Willard to shame! Great views of the Wasatch Mtns south! Steep all the way around. Fantastic peak.
