from Seager trailhead
should have paid closer attention to the summit weather before setting out on this hike. Was dressed for fall but encountered winter conditions above 3000 ft. As a consequence i was terrifically cold for most of this hike - numb fingers especially.
As there had been recent rains , the crossing of Dry Brook was extremely hazardous and difficult - managed to dunk my boot and fill it with water on the way up - and without a change of dry socks in my backpack - lesson learned. I was not at all prepared for winter conditions encountered but all's well that ends well

Two out of three for the day
The plan was to climb Big Indian, Doubletop, and Fir but on the return from Doubletop it started to pour so I saved Fir for another day. The register for Big Indian was easy to find while the register for Doubletop was not. It was good to get some bush whacking in with a map and compass though.

Fir Mountain and Big Indian
A beautiful day with the sun shining throughout. About an inch of snow at the trailhead with a few inches above 3500ft. The hike up Fir Mountain was enjoyable, despite the limited summit views. Hiking the ridge, across the Col and up Big Indian was a bit annoying: lots of bushwacking with walls of fir trees to negotiate. Overall, the effort made the entire trip worthwhile. Roughly 11mi round trip.

1st Catskills climb
A nice hike up from Hwy 41 on a good trail, then an unmarked use trail to the summit. Nice register holder!

Cold & Windy
Hiked Big Indian/Fir/Doubletop from Seager on a cold and windy spring day. Some snow in the pines still on Doubletop, nice forest up there.

Done with Fir
Easy to find canister. Then across to Fir. Fun bushwhack dayhike.

Burnham Hollow Bushwack
Sorry for the aliteration, couldn't help myself.
This bushwack took us first up to Fir Mtn and we then caught the land bridge over to Bid Indian. Next we dropped to the trail and walked over Eagle and then Balsam Mtns before dropping into McKinley Hollow. Not too shabby for a 3500'Club outing.

Pine Hill-West Branch from south
This wasn't too bad of a hike at all. I found the herd path fine, and it took me right to the canister. First time I signed one of the Catskill canisters.
