Phew!
What a toughie. ;) This was my wife's second county high point, my dog Loa's first, and my dog Boulder's third. I only have Signal Peak left in the lower two-thirds of the state, it was nice to knock out the three near here this week.

Could not drive all the way, still a little snow on the road
May 13, 2021 - Drove by the "Road Closed" sign on Brian Head Vista Road and was able to make it to the parking area just below the peak that has the sign board and pit toilet. Had to drive through a few snowbanks. Hiked the remaining 1/4 mile (or whatever it is) to the summit.
April 11, 2024 - Booted up the 400 vertical feet from the top of the Giant Steps Express chair lift at Brian Head Resort. The hike took 30 minutes. Skied down the Northface.

Up the gut
Hwy 143 from Brian Head Resort to Panguitch was shut down due to 50" of snow and blowing wind from the previous 6 days of storms. So we nowshoed from Brian Head Resort to the "Vista" sign, went up the obvious wash, took a right and headed up the SW face, topped out over the cornice and followed the ridge to the hut on top. Not the best weather for a picnic on the top but a fun climb for my 55th birthday!

From the highway
Fun hike in the snow from the highway. Gorgeous views, especially of Cedar Breaks, really fun ridge to climb up from the southwest side!

It's kinda fun
We had to park on the side of the main highway and cross country to the top. The road to the top was snow covered. We headed up the south ridge to the top. The views are gorgeous! The ridge was fun!
I have been up here a couple of times to mountain bike but made a third visit while in the neighborhood. Good views but not much of a peak

Windy!
Parked at Rattlesnake Creek trail head, just south of Brian Head Peak road on highway 143. I put on the snowshoes and followed a snowmobile track north to Brian Head Peak road. I followed the road briefly and then left it to get on the south ridge. Snowshoes came off once I gained the ridge. The ridge was snowless due to wind and sun. Hiking was easy most of the way to the summit. It was FREEEZING on the summit. So windy... On the way down I skipped the ridge and snowshoed straight down the south facing slopes.
Drove up after climbing Mount Belknap and Delano Peak, in the Tushar Range, earlier in the day.

Drive up in the am
Was staying overnight in Panguitch on the way to the Grand Canyon for the weekend. Woke up early while family was still asleep and drove up to Brian Head. Beautiful celestial views at 5 am. No moon. I'll have to come back to this one during the day for the earthly views. 11th UT CoHP.
About a 1 hour drive (34 miles) from Panguitch, Ut.

Great views
Half our group stopped a half mile into the road and attacked the peak as the crow flies. Unfortunately, my wife had some blisters so we walked the road up. The backcountry riding/skiing on that backside would be STELLAR in the winter.
