US State Highpoint 12/50
It’s a hill in a park, and the only reason I have gone to or will go to Florida willingly. Might be the single nicest thing in Florida. 12/50, grudgingly.

Arrived in a storm after dark. Seemed like a nice park, though.

Arrived after dark and headed back into the woods using my cellphone flashlight. I was pretty worried about snakes in the leaves.

Beach Camping (#2)
On a business trip to Atlanta I decided to make a few detours on the way home. Stop number 2 was Britton Hill on the way to camp on the beach in Destin, FL. Not really much to see here, but a plaque and a couple guys working on the bathrooms. Oh Florida...

HP# 14
About a month after my first HP trip to the E/NE that got me #s 4-12...It's time for another trip E to NC, but I took a S/SE side trip to get a bunch more HPs. (HP 2 of 7 during this trip). Pretty basic little area. Just a little monument/plaque, well maintained at least. I don't recall finding a USGS survey seal.

Nice little trails around, got some cool pictures of some trees, spider webs, mushrooms and golden hour! Plus had the whole place to myself

Britton Hill
The greatest challenge for this high point was drive to it thru Tropical Storm Claudette. The park was closed but I wasn't going to stick around. Thankfully the park sign marking the high point was good for me. My understanding is that there is no survey marking determining the high point.

We successfully tackled the towering behemoth that is Britton Hill on our way back home from the beach. We've passed by this marker many times to and from the beach, but we decided this morning to finally take a visit. This was our first state high point, but we have plans for a few more this summer!

HP #24, Britton Hill, FL
Swung through Florida to summit Britton Hill. After the grueling 50 foot walk from the parking lot, in a light rain, success! The first Highpoint for me with parking and a functioning bathroom next to it.

It was a nice, foggy day. Arrived to find the park was getting manicured by some state prisoners. Awkward. Visited the monument and moved along.

No where at the highpoint could I find anything calling it Britton Hill
Everyone calls it Britton Hill but nothing at the highpoint uses that name. Everything is called Lakewood Park Florida's highest point. #40 for me.
Looking over this map [https://mapper.acme.com/?ll=30.97923,-86.27405&z=15&t=R&marker0=30.98641%2C-86.28152%2Cbritton%20hill%20FL] with Lakewood park marked, one can see the contour lines of Britton Hill. Which has made me realize Lakewood Park is located on Britton Hill (and not vice versa as some write ups allude). And as we all know Lakewood Park contains the granite highpoint marker (monument). Anyways, I found it confusing that highpoint literature calls it Britton Hill and everything at the highpoint calls it Lakewood Park, but this cleared it up for me - so maybe it will help others. Thanks!
I really like the way Wikipedia states it, which coincides with what I learned from the map mentioned above. "The hill is located in northern Walton County near the town of Lakewood, Florida, just off County Road 285 about 2 miles (3.2 km) southeast of Florala, Alabama. A small park called Lakewood Park marks the high point and features a monument, trails, and an information board."
I found the highpointers bench on the hiking trail, but I didn't find anything with the name Britton Hill on it. No USGS marker around either. The big granite marker inscribed "Lakewood Park Florida's Highest Point, Elevation 345 ft" is definitely what everyone is calling Britton Hill though.
I'd also be willing to bet there is a wide area on Britton Hill that is all at 345 feet, I don't think there is just a single point that reaches that elevation. Some claim the granite marker may not be the exact highpoint, but I say there isn't one exact spot, so the spot they picked for the marker being at 345 ft celebrates and marks the highpoint of Florida.

Lakewood Park?
Little confused by the signage that says Lakewood Park, not Britton Hill. Also says Lakewood Park on the elevation marker. Didn't find a USGS marker and no Highpointers bench.
On the plus side, ran into a nice Russian couple at the park, and enjoyed the road trip with my wife.
