"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

Long Day for a Beautiful peakClimbed this hill out and back with a buddy, Ian Damon. Went up Gravel bar Creek and then scrambled the ridge from about 3 miles up along the creek. It was about 12 hours with 21 miles under our feet. Not something i would ever want to do a second time. But this area is rugged and beautiful. No one is out there!

Second Time's the CharmTim and I got snowed off about a mile from the summit in 2010. We went back in 2011. Tim, injured from the day before, turned back less than halfway there, and storm clouds were all around. I considered not going on alone but realized I would not want to come back for a third try. Despite some brief showers, the weather mostly cooperated, including a thunderstorm one drainage away staying away.
