Dinged
Went here solo on a beautiful day, but could not get up the last obstacle of Ding canyon. I definitely needed a boost up the last chockstone/step. Otherwise, very nice. Dang - will have to wait till I bring help.

Water Is The Key
Hiked this one twice now, though the first time we only made it up Ding then reversed our ascent route. This second time, we made it up Ding--quite scenic, by the way--which had more obstacles--in the form of water-filled potholes and chokestones--than I'd remembered, anyways we scrambled up and down the sides of the canyon and generally had a good time. The trouble was, almost everyone ran out of water somewhere around the end of Ding, which made the next section--the blazing hot walk in the shadow of the Ding Dang Dome--less than enjoyable. Needless to say, the descent down Dang was something of a disaster. It was enjoyable, yes, and the obstacles, while being fairly challenging, were certainly not impossible for me and the other more experienced hikers. However, there were plenty of very out-of-shape people with us, and--keeping in mind that those of us who were in shape were exhausted and dehydrated by the end of the hike--they really didn't fare too well. Despite our fiasco, I would recommend this canyon to anyone looking for a real canyoneering adventure!
1st: 11/8/14 - Fun introduction to canyoneering, non-technical but enough challenges to keep you on your toes, particularly in the Dang Canyon. Between the chockstones and a few water sections we had to stem, it definitely showed me that I was not just on a hike!
2nd: 2/25/17 - With Rachael, fun the second time around too, first winter Canyon. Water in Dang we had to stem below a chockstone near the lower end of the canyon.

ding dang enjoyable
ding was a fun jaunt, but i really liked dang. many mini-technical adventures, slides, technical downclimbs, and three water obstacles. another great excursion in the san rafael swell!
oh yeah, don't bother with the ding dang dome. it's a giant exploding sandcastle. i didn't like it at all!

Ding and Dang
Today Kim, Kessler, Shaylee and I completed the Ding and Dang Canyon Loop, which is located in the San Rafael Swell. We weren't going to do a narrow canyon and we drove down to Green River in the rain, but once we hit Green River, there was nothing but sunshine.
We completed the loop in a fairly fast three hours. The kids liked the scrambling sections, but the route was fairly easy compared to what we're used to. It's a really fun route.
We met one family in the canyon that was struggling, but they told us that they didn't need help.

Did with a broken arm!
Did the loop up ding and down dang on a cloudy day...oh and had no use of my right arm. Had to do a lot of free jumps :)
A step up in difficulty from Little Wild Horse and Bell, so you have the place to yourself. Nothing beats the canyons of the San Rafael.

Nice!
Great success! Dang was a bit challenging for my novice canyoneering abilities. Nice set of canyons and beautiful scenary. Not much water, only a short twenty yard span...easy to get around if you don't wanna get wet.

What a Blast!
A blast, what a way to finish off a 5 day trip through Southern Utah! Ding is an easy run/hike up with a few short scrambles. Dang was lots of fun to descend, all kinds of scrambling down, stemming, and wedging to be had. Was able to stay above all the potholes without issue.

Great routeThe last pool in Dang that we had to wade was a bit nasty, it had some dead animal parts!
