From N. Fork Bouquet
There was a light breeze at the top, where we changed into drier clothes. I notice "Grace" on the marker at the top. This was the first time I'd heard about it's naming, or re-naming (I live in Oregon now and haven't been back in a while; probably not since she passed away). Is it an official renaming?

East Dix
Climbed with Macomb, South Dix and Hough via the Dix Trail from the Elk Lake Lodge. A long but easy ridge walk led to East Dix's fogged in summit. Eventually the clouds burned off and we could see Hough across the valley and Spotted Mountain further along the ridge.

Fourth peak in a five peak string. Enjoy the sunshine for just a few minutes at the summit. Neat summit! The sun didn't stay out for long and neither did we. We were soon off on our way to Macomb. #35/46! : )

Did East and South Dix then Hough solo, great hike! Returned via South Dix and the down East Dix slide. That was incredible!! Finished hiking out in the dark

Part of an ADK backpack. Tough going up the deep and unconsolidated snow on the slide- avalanche conditions. But we made it to the summit where we signed in and also to South Dix.
Route Climbed: Herd Path from South Dix Date Climbed: Sep 16, 2001
Having reached the summit of South Dix, I was next headed to East Dix, one of only two ADK High Peaks that cannot be seen from Mt Marcy. The herd path had much blowdown, but the open and rocky East Dix summit was worth it. I chose this as my lunch spot. This is the view from East Dix of my next two destinations, Hough and Dix.

From South DixWarm temps and fresh snow made for an interesting day. No views to speak of, so a return in nicer weather is probably in order.

Route Climbed: standard herd path Date Climbed: April 17, 2004Herd path was pretty easy to see; didn't bring snowshoes and punched through the snow WAY too many times! Not a bad summit.
