Enjoyed this hike... but, wow, so hot out there!
Relatively straight forward hike with some fun scrambling near the summit... but man was it hot out there. Bad timing to go during a heat wave.

Sweet peak
Drove up Hart Mine Road from Ivanpah Road and parked about a mile from the junction indicated in Zdon's book (9.5 miles in). 45 minutes to the summit from there, nice class 2 with a little optional easy class 3 thrown in. Found some mountain lion poop in the wash on the way back. Hiked with Daisy, one of my golden retrievers.
Everyone seems to have forgotten about this peak since 2009.
No entries in the log since Bob/Matt's trip and one later that month.
Hoofed it from Walking Box Road. Not sure if I took the "NW Gully" but I did pass the cave pictured in some of the trip reports. Was high class 2/low class 3. Bout 2.5 miles round trip with 1100ft gain from the road.

NW By Gulley!
Surprisingly fun and scrambly, however short. Enjoyed a beautiful desert winter day with my Love.

Up The NW Gully
Quick and easy little peak. Too short but still enjoyable. Good times with my beautiful wife Deb!
Long live the OTWPS (Outta The Way Peaks Section)!!

From the West Side
Saw so many hawks that day in there, that I decided to name the wash we hiked through The Valley of the Hawks.
Very short hike, but an interesting area to visit and surprisingly filled with nice plant life. Here is the slideshow: Hart Peak hike

South
Was in neighborhood on Walkingbox Road, looked up and realized "Hey! That must be Hart Peak!" At the top 55 minutes later. Class 2 at most by this route; easy 2wd road in.
On the way down, I realized I could drive my Subaru up to near 4800', if I had so desired.

Short but sweet
Followed a vague 4th class line up the northwest face. Neat little arches and alcoves and funky rock formations all over this little mountain. My only gripe is that the sweetness didn't last long enough. Before I knew it, I was on the summit. Very short. This could be coupled with Castle Peak for a very nice, easy day out.
