after Flat TopPounding rain made my stay at the summit brief but by sticking to the ridge I avoided the ‘no trespassing’ area lower on the mountain.

On the way to Flat TopDid this one before making the traverse to Flat Top. Ran into a crapload of powder on the descent towards Flat Top. Hitting it again on the way back was freaking brutal, that was steep and not very grippy

On our way to Flat TopOn our way to flatt top, liked the top of this peak more than the top of Flat top. I feel the view here was better. However just like flat top I would say its only average.

Love the south Oquirrhs!#1: 8/4/18: Hazy day, so it was more about the hike than the views for me this time. I started from the South Fork/Lion Hill Loop Parking Lot, which added a couple of miles (but that was kind of the point...). Like others I see here, I lost the trail amid the bushes on the south slope between the 9000 ft saddle and the 9600 ft clearing but it's obvious where the 9600 ft clearing is so no trouble getting there. From there up the west ridge then down the north ridge toward Flat Top, routefinding is pretty easy and they're fun stretches. Only people I saw all day were on the 4WD road. Loving having these mountains to myself each time I come up!
#2: 9/23/18: Same route up, except took the north route between 9000 ft saddle and 9600 ft--brief no trespassing area but didn't see anyone and it's a much nicer route than the south route! This was the start of a long day traversing the full Ophir circuit: Ophir South Fork/Lion Hill parking lot to Lewiston & Flat Top, north across 9925 and 9820 to Lowe, over 10160 to Rocky, then over 9530 and back up to Bald, coming down via Serviceberry. 24 mi, 8100 ft elevation gain, 12 hrs 20 mins, including breaks.

two Oquirrh high points(1) via Ophir Canyon with Moogie737, yadahzoemtn, Brent & Dave. Loop including Flat Top. Cool, partly cloudy but still bluebird day - summit views obscured by cloud. Didn't use the snowshoes we carried, yet ~90% of the hike was on snow perfectly suited to our use of crampons. (2) 15 May 2021 with Wasatch Mountain Club (both peaks)

37 peaks in 19 daysThere was bad weather for weeks in WA so Heather and I drove through OR, CA, NV, UT, and ID. We climbed 37 peaks in 19 days and on the 13th day of the trip we did Deseret Peak, Flat Top Mountain and Lewiston Peak. Deseret was a lovely hike similar to Timpanogos but Flat Top was a horrible hike through cattle grazing land with numerous biting flies. trip report

Gorgeous aspens to brighten the bluebird day#1. 10-14-14. 1st time hiking in the Oquirrhs 2+51 up & probably walked a few meters on "private property" but took care to leave no trace. :). Went over to Flat Top. W/ Brent. #2 11-08-14. Small skiffs of snow; terrific Gesellschaft. #3 3-1-16 W/ Brent via snow climb of SW ridge. 5+19 up. Wind. #4 3-17-17 W/ Lana, Brent & Signe. From Pole Canyon via east ridge. Then over to Flat Top Mtn. #5 4-21-17 W/ Brent, Lana, Dave and Jim. 3+44 to Lewiston on fabulous snow above 8,200', 7+55 total trip time. No snowshoes, only boots and crampons. #6 06-01-19 W/Lana. 4+45 up, snowshoes final 1,200’ in oatmeal snow. #7 04-19-24 W/Lana. Up in 6+35 on terrible snow and with my left snowshoe breaking at 9,400' Gimpy they call me. But it made postholing much more likely and that was already a problem with snowshoes! Visited Flat Top Mountain afterwards.

Least Favorite MountainThere was way too much bushwhacking as we kept losing the trail and when we could find the trail it was very over grown. Wear calf sleeves or pants. I got very scratched up and was constantly covered in stickers. The way down we didnt take the trail back but cut down through the trees on the other side and I liked that sooo much better supposedly there is now a cairn and a path but we didn't find it until it was hooking up with the original trail at the 9000ft saddle. Then on the way down from there we lost the trail a little but kept it most of the time and that was better. Still I wasn't impressed. I did enjoy out little exploration of Ophir.

New Possible Partial RouteDid this on the way to Flat Top. I was shocked when we actually saw 2 people climbing down the ridge that said this was their third time. They informed us of the alternate route around the North side of the ridge (from 9000 ft. up to the 9700 ft. clearing) which avoids the crappy bushwacking sections and elevation loss of following the trail (mentioned in the route description) around the South side of the ridge. Much better.

Great hikeHiked from the new trail head parking lot near the beginning of South Ophir Canyon up the ATV trail to the Mercur overlook and then took the trial up to just below Lewiston Peak. Hiked up the ridge to Lewiston and over to Flat top. 4 hours 10 min total from car to flat top. 3700 ft elevation from car to flat top. Perfectly clear and sunny day. Great views.
