Sunday Solitude
Started up the mountain from the looking glass rock trailhead just before nine in the morning. At first, when the rain started coming down, I wasn't thrilled, but soon appreciated it. I doubt there are many Sunday's throughout the year that I would have the summit and entire trail to myself like I did today. The actual summit didn't present much of a view, but skirt off to the left or right or straight across the summit about 1/4 mile offered beautiful Blue Ridge vistas. Just be careful hiking around the bald rocks this time of year. I tempted death a few times, slippin on clear ice patches.

Route Climbed: Looking Glass Rock Trail
Great Trail. Impressive Views from the top, only bad thing was that I forgot to put the memory card in my camera, therefore I took zero pictures. Yes, I was mad at myself. Guess I'll just do it again later.

Trail
Was traveling with a college soccer team at the time...stopped for a break and climbed the trail with them. Beautiful view at the top and fun little pond to jump/swim in at the bottom across from the trailhead.
I climbed this rock w/my cousin and some friends. My cousin did the lead climbing. The view from the very top was absoultely spectacular!! I suggest if you ever have the chance to climb any part of looking glass...you should do it.
Route Climbed: Took the hiking trail up Date Climbed: July 2002
We took the hiking trail up, and then did a little bit of scrambling at the top. I climbed down a bit too far, free hand, and had a lot of "worrys" getting back up.
Route Climbed: The Nose Date Climbed: January 2000
Climbed with Wayne and Phillipe. It was very cold and as the sun rose it got colder, as the valley warmed up and the winds increased. It was in the middle of the second pitch on the quartzite ramp where things got warmer. Fun trip.

I'd been meaning to climb this one for ages. I really had no idea it would be that spectacular a peak. Yes, I knew the cliffs were serious, but I just didn't realize a 4K foot peak sitting among mile-high mountains would command such views! What a great day! (Even if I did almost fall off the mountain.)

Looking GlassClimbed The Nose, Peregrine. Great friction climbs. 4 pitches, some moves are real "balancy".
