My 7th peak in the Ocean to Peak Adventures: 2022 Mountain Summit Challenge
Did it in a little under 7 hours round trip. That jaunt up to the summit from the end of the Don Cecil trail is kind of tough.

Great half-day outing
Forest Route 14S11 was a little narrower than I expected, but sure beats hiking up from the Grove. Blue skies all day long. Was in retrospect lucky to have seen the area before the massive fire later that summer... there were *many* dead trees.

From Don Cecil trail
Started this hike from the Sentinel campground on a well maintain trail. The last 1/2 mile or so is a old used trail that is hard to follow, so I just went straight up.

From Cedar Grove
My wife and I hiked via the Don Cecil trailhead; I carried our 24lb son up all the way. Beautiful views and a great hike, with a little thunder and rain towards the end.

Via Don Cecil Trail
Date approximate. Sprained my ankle pretty bad on the way down; still the worst injury I've ever suffered while hiking.

great hike!
A great day hike. Takes 4-6 hours depending on how long you check things out! great little summit to sit on and soak in the views. Mount Whitney and several other massive hills of the High Sierra and the Sierra Crest! 4000 ft vertical gain with beautiful views as your reward.

Short, but Steep
Nice views! The drive out is interesting. I combined this side trip with a hike into the nearby Jeannie Lakes Wilderness.

What a view! What a great view you can get from the top of Lookout Peak! It's a long drive to the trailhead but the view is worth it.
