Winter Traverse
This was an epic trip. We hiked in and set up camp on a flat spot in the woods near avalanche pass. Never in my life have I dreaded getting up to piss more than I did that night... brutal! We intended on staying in a lean-to, but it was already taken. We were glad we didn't get it because, when we passed in the morning, the winds coming off of Colden Lake were FEROCIOUS! The group in the lean-to had it covered with a tarp, but it still must have been awful.
We got away from the lake as quick as possible, and began to head up Algonquin with full packs. As we passed the ranger station on the way, he peaked his head out to ask us what our plans were. We told him we were doing the entire MacIntyre Range today to which he replied, "You know it's going to reach 40 below with the wind chill, right?" We assured him that we were prepared and were on our way.
The trail up Algonquin from Lake Colden was pretty steep and there was lots of snow. Combine this with the weight of our packs and the clumsiness of our snowshoes, and you have quite the exhausting ascent.
Regardless, we made it to the junction with the MacIntyre Range Trail, and proceeded over to Iroquois Peak. From Iroquois, we summited Algonquin and soaked in some views. It was so cold that, when I placed my snow goggles on my head for just a few seconds, it was already long enough for the sweat on my hat to freeze to the goggles, rendering them useless.
Eventually, we made out way down Algonquin and up Wright Peak to complete the traverse. We headed down Wright and back toward our car at Adirondack Loj, tired, frozen, and stoked!!

McIntyre Range
After climbing Algonquin in winter, then Algonquin/Boundary/Iroqouis/Wright in the summer, and just this spring Mt Marshall I have now hiked the whole range.

Loop with Avalanche PassMade a loop by hiking Avalanche Pass then up to the Range - long day, sore legs, but worth the extra effort.
