Arrived Saturday afternoon at park headquarters/Alander trailhead to grab a campsite (primitive sites never filled) and then hiked out to see Bash Bish Falls. Spent night at campsite #3 (little slopey, but very private) and hiked Alander the next day before breaking camp and doing Mount Frissell. Nice spots to play in the water at the second bridge as you hike in.

Route Climbed: Alander Mountain Loop
We saw beautiful views that clear, sunny day, but overall the trails aren't very eventful. Definitely a hike you would want to do just for the wonderful views of mountains in New York.

Cool night in November
Alander Mountain loop was fun. I camped overnight near the south taconic trail on a cool November night. I didn't make it up Brace mountain but I did Alander mtn twice (lost...). The bridge is no longer there but river is still quite passable via rocks. If you'd like to see a video of my hike to get a feel for the terrain, etc have a look at hctrails.com/alander-mtn-hiking-loop-day-1

Land of the Vultures
Nice open summit in the Taconics, great views of the Catskill Mtns, plenty of vultures circling overhead.

Newt Mania
With Flanders after tagging Frissell. Had to pay attention on the hike to the ground to avoid all the red spotted newts on the trail. No views up top but had a nice snack in the cabin there which appears to be in the process of being repaired in spots.

Mount Alander
Climbed via the Alander Brook Trail from the Under Mountain Road. Another pleasant dayhike in the Litchfield Hills. Good views of the Berkshires and of the Husdon Valley. Resembles a Southern Appalachian Bald more than a typical New England summit.

Summitt
Have summitted multiple times. Easy and beautiful each time. Great hike to take the family on, especially young kids. To make the hike a little harder include Frissel and Bash Bish falls for an extended-all day loop hike.
