west face from the Highline
Outstanding views form the top, even with clouds draping the upper reaches of the tallest surrounding peaks. Interesting route, LOTS OF CAIRNS! Seems like everyone who climbs thinks his way is the best. Thought the rock was particularly crumbly, but we never encountered anything worse than class III and had no real problems attaining the summit.

West Face from Weeping Wall
My son Frank and I climbed this on a beautiful clear sky day. Fun climb! Followed cairns near top which took us all over the face...seems there was probably a quicker way up. Great views of nearly the entire park from the summit.

21st birthday
started at logan pass. highline trail was impressive but the climb itself was incredible. ledges, scree, small and large cliffs, chimneys, caves, this mountain has it all! if you don't like what you're looking at, traverse a little in any direction and you'll find something you'll like better. oh yeah, the view is pretty sweet too!

Mt. Gould
Climbed via West Face Route. We especially enjoyed the views down into Many Glacier and into the plains. If you lost your keys up there I found an old rusty set halfway down Gould's West face.

First time up the west face, second up to the Gem Glacier overlook, then up the NW ridge. What a great place to sit and look at the wonders of this park!

West Glacier to Granite Park to Gould to Ptarmigan Wall to Swiftcurrent
I had a helluva weekend in 2005. We started at West Glacier on a Friday morning around 5:30 am. Hit the Loop trail up to Granite Park Trails cabin where my hiking partner had to be to work that morning. I met up with some folks and we set off to summit Gould. That evening I joined them for dinner and the next morning set off for a solo traverse of the Ptarmigan Wall Goat Trail (see Summit Post). I arrived in Swiftcurrent just before dark to join friends for car camping complete with wine and gourmet food.

Solo & Cliff Trouble...
Successfully summited the mountain solo, with no problems during the ascent, but much difficulty coming down due to taking wrong routes through the cliffs. This caused a couple extra hours of real difficulty on treacherous terrain in the west-facing hot afternoon sun. I enjoyed the climb, and summit. Not so the descent; I was sooo glad to reach my car!

west face,
Did a variation not in the guide but still same 3-4th class rating. climbed with a lady who was turning 50 and was out to do 50 peaks that year. she did succeed this. not bad for a 50 yr old just getting into mountaineering!

West Face
I've wanted to climb Mount Gould ever since seeing a photo of it in one of my calendars. We started from Logan Pass and hiked along the Highline trail. The West Face was a very enjoyable climb through cliffbands, scree, and chimneys. One of my favorite mountain climbs in Glacier NP.

A GMS outing. More solid rock than I was expecting. Thoroughly enjoyed scrambling the numerous short cliff bands all the way up. 30 mph winds on the upper west slopes and over the top left all of us putting on every piece of clothing we had.
