We did not go to the top. But I made it to the upper lake. It was a very beautiful hike. The trail was closed about 1/2 mile from the upper lake because of a steep snow field that had covers a cliff edge portion of the trail. I went across which was one of the stupidest things that turned out to be one of the best things I could have done after making it to the lake which had no one in sight.

GRINNELL MTN
CLIMBED FROM THE LOOP WITH IVAN O'NEIL AND OTHG REMEMBERING A CLIMB BY HIS MOM IN THE EARLY 1900s
It was a few yrs ago, but I do remember the trail was beautiful. Not too rocky. The Grinnell Falls are great. Saw a bear going up the slope of Mount Grinnell. The Upper Grinnell Lake was gorgeous. We did not attempt the summit. Next day is snowed 2 feet!!! No joke!
Route Climbed: Granite Park Chalet to saddle just north of Gould, to summit. Date Climbed: July 18, 2005
Done on the first day of the GMS Mountaineering week. Very nice group of people, nice day until reaching the saddle, from which point on the wind was cold and strong--too cold to stay long on the summit. Nice mountain, with terrific views of Wilbur and Gould and Kinnerly and Iceberg, and the entire host of GNP companion peaks! Nicenicenice!
Coming down we cut through the Swiftcurrent Glacier Basin, and in crossing the glacier I had to self-arrest with my ice axe. Definitely woke me up! Great day all around!
