Eight hours to get here from the Loj, via Gray and Skylight. I started semi late and dawdled on the trail talking to a chap named Dagum, so I returned after full dark for a solid twelve and a half hour day. The 115 is complete.
12 hour r/t from the Garden. Best weather I think there could possibly be: Blue skies, cool, slight breeze...the perfect day basically. Summited Mt Haystack, Basin Mt and Saddleback Mt. A long, challenging and very rewarding loop hike. I would do this again. Mt Haystack has really great views, very impressive! Some fun little scrambles on the way up too. I spent 45 minutes on Haystack and Basin, 15 on Saddleback. Too nice a day to rush things too much.

HABASA
Hiked from the Garden to an ADK lean to on Friday night. Camped. Climbed Haystack, Basin and Saddleback on Saturday. Camped out 2nd night. Sunday we climbed Yard. GORGEOUS sunny weekend. Plenty of ice. Bring the biggest baddest crampons you have. We never used snow shoes. A wonderful weekend. Great fun!!!

Great Range Traverse
Part of our epic Great Range Traverse. Brutally good times!! Also, in my opinion, Haystack is the best scramble in the Great Range. I thought it was so fun that (because we went down the good part during our Great Range Traverse) I made my friend wait in the middle of our day so I could turn around and scramble to the summit!

Summer?
Snowing on the summit, raining below tree line. The trail was practically a waterfall. Climbed Tabletop and Haystack in single day ... was tempted to add Marcy but waited until the next day.

In The Dark
Summited in the dark, during a storm on a trip in to Marcy before descending to search for camping. Most difficult night of my life!!!
haha I can relate! She's a bit of a jaunt from the camps at Marcy Dam

Awesome
Summited Mount Haystack 4960' on a clear, beautiful Sunday the day before Colombus day. Our group of 3 parked at the Marcy Field lot, took the bus to the Garden trailhead, and hiked in a bit past Johns Brook Lodge to set up camp. We summited Haystack, Basin, and Saddleback on Sunday, and hiked out from the JBL area on Monday morning in the rain. Had a great breakfast at Noonmark Diner!
The trail from Slant Rock to the Range trail is pretty steep, and requires a bit of descent before starting the ascent up to Haystack. The ridge on Haystack is fantastic and offers, in my opinion, the best views of any Adirondack High Peak, hands down.

Rain on Mount Haystack
Lovely day except for the rainstorm right when we got above treeline. *sigh* Will have to go back and do it again.

Slant Rock-Haystack-Skylight-Marcy-Slant Rock
Left Slant Rock to climb haystack, relax a bit and down to lake Tears of the cloud to do a rapid ascent-descent of Skylight (missed it last year when doing Gray). We then went on to climbed Marcy. We had the summit to ourselves and the stewart. Super day. We climbed down to Slant Rock.
The weather was cool, trails dry, skies blue. Long but rewarding day in the High Peaks. Hiked from Garden up took Shorey back to Slant Rock to JBL and out.

7th and final peak on a Great Range traverse. Could see the crowds up on Marcy while I had the entire summit of Haystack all to myself.

Hiked in and stayed at Bushnell #2. Topped out at 9:30 the next morning. INCREDIBLE views of the Great Range! Spent an hour alone on the summit with light winds and warm sunshine. Worth the effort and may be my new favorite HP.
