Route Climbed: Decalibron Date Climbed: 17 September, 2004
Did the whole route (for the second time) from Kite Lake with Trish, while Suzanne and Amber left us at the Democrat/Cameron saddle and did just Cameron/Lincoln/Bross. A beautiful, sunny day.
Route Climbed: Lincoln Ampitheatre from Montgomery Reservoir Date Climbed: July 3, 2005
Lincoln ampitheatre route is a good alternative to the more crowded routes. Climbed Lincoln then traversed to Cameron, Bross, "South Bross", back to Cameron and over to Democrat. Nasty storm was coming in, so I quickly descended back to Cameron/Democrat saddle and then went down the steep scree slope to the north. From there I found the wheeler trail and hiked back out to the reservoir. Pretty long this way, but a good time.
Should have been an easy climb, but the snow/sleet moved in. Finished all three from Kite Lake- but high trailhead helps. We had no views thanks to the 50mph winds and white, so unfortunately it was just to cross them off the list. Climbing just to get to the top is great, but I go for the sights. Careful coming down or you miss the trail and contribute to trail damage on the scree slopes.
Route Climbed: Kite Lake Date Climbed: 2 September 2005
Camped at Kite Lake the night before and awoke to a gorgeous view! Did Democrat and Cameron before heading over to Lincoln. Very easy from the summit of Cameron! Within 30-40 minutes we were back at Cameron and heading off to Bross. You're a bit exposed in some parts but nothing to get the heart pumping. The pictures I took of Lincoln from Cameron and Bross are stupendous!
Weather was perfect, people were everywhere, all over the mtns. It was nice to see how many people are getting into hiking 14ers. Descending Bross was interesting with all the loose scree, it was almost easier to "ski" down the rocks.
Route Climbed: West Gulch from Kite Lake via Cameron Date Climbed: June 1, 2002
We climbed the mountain of the great emancipator in early June along with Cameron & Bross (we climbed Democrat on out honeymoon). It was a clold windy snowy early season day. Tis was nice because it kept the crowds away from Kite Lake.
Route Climbed: West Ridge Date Climbed: May 25, 2002
Easy summit from Cameron. I think it only took 15 minutes to reach the peak. Number 5 was great because the good republican, Honest Abe, was 138 feet taller than the opposing democratic mountain top.
