Over on Rollins trail
Not much to see, lots of flies and mosquitos. Was surprised by a coyote on the trail on the way down.

In the pouring rain
It was hot and humid when I was on the summit of Whiteface but by the time I got to this summit it was around 55 degrees, raining heavily, and the wind was bending the treetops every which direction overhead. That's what I get for starting so late though. Started at 240 pm and finished just before headlamp o clock. Six hours and ten minutes.

easy up, views over the clouds
Great summit area, clouds were captured in a bowl below us so we were sitting above them - blue sky above and white puffy clouds below - always a great sight.

One of Two of Day
Started out as a cold, foggy morning. Saw a large moose in the mist at the trailhead. Liked the rockiness of the summit area. Tagged this summit and headed to Whiteface.

Route: Blueberry Ledge-Dicey's Mill
New England fall at its finest. Combined with Passaconaway for an impeccable loop.
I've been holding off on doing this because there isn't much to see. But I wanted to complete my 4,000 footers of NH. Took the Blueberry trail to Whiteface and then the rollins trail to passaconaway, and Dice Mill back to the parking lot. It was a beautiful day. I should add that the solo hike down Dice Mill trail was a very beautiful, peacefull early fall hike.

hiked it with my dog
I hiked this as the second peak in the loop I did with Whiteface. No views from the summit, but the way out on the Dicey's Mill Trail made me feel like I was walking through a Robert Frost poem.

with Whiteface
I came over on the Rollins Trail from Whiteface. A long ridge walk, but you don't really lose that much elevation, so it's not bad. I enjoyed the view towards Chocorua and the view of Mt. Washington. The Dicey's Mill trail is fine to go downhill, after a long hike. It would be nice to have one of those houses "on the trail"

Mount Passaconaway
Climbed with Whiteface via Dicey's Mill Trail from Ferncroft. A challanging hike on a hot day. Lots of raspberries this time of year. Got a limited very looking north from an open ledge just below the summit of Passaconaway. A nice place to stop and have lunch before continuing on to Whiteface.

Came back to officially tag the summit after skipping it years ago on a similar loop. Views from the outlooks were better than I expected from the descriptions below. If you're tired you can safely skip the long northern outlook spur: the view from the ledge right by the summit is just as good.
Hiked up Whiteface, across the Rollins Trail, and down the Dicey Mills Trail. Really warm day, there was a pretty big inversion and the higher up I went the warmer and more humid it got, the only relief being more exposed areas where there was a little breeze. Quick warning: the viewpoint near the summit is actually about .3 miles (making it a substantial walk) and isn't much better than the rock outcropping that you pass right before you get to the summit.

Very nice weather. Good view from the lookout west toards the Franconia Range. Rollins Trail could use some better markings as the blazes were few and far between. The ones present were quite old.
