This kids from the east so getting use to the altitude was the main purpose of this in preparation for the class 4 kelso ridge on Torreys

Sniktau in April
This was the second time I tried Sniktau. The first time, the year before, my hiking partner and I got pinned down in a nasty wind/snow storm on the top of the ridge. This year, we were more prepared with cold weather gear and managed to knock this 13er down.
Be warned: don't underestimate the wind on this peak and ridge!

Fun and Easy
I liked this short hike. It was easy to get to, and it was just strenuous enough to keep away the hordes of visitors to Loveland Pass. The views were great for a 13er, Grays and Torreys are right there, Longs Peak, the Mummy Range, the Never Summers, the Gore Range, and much more.

Sunsetus Maximus from SW Ridge
I took what might be my best Colorado sunset photo ever from Sniktau; peaks forever in golden light.

Fall Hike
Climbed this one after the season's first snowfall on scattered patches of snow. It gave me an excuse to play with my new ice axe so that made it worthwhile. Back down on the pass, I saw two boarders helping their buddy back to the car after he blew out his knee. So worth it to end your season for a 6" jump onto 2" of packed ice in October!

SW ridge
Climbed with my wife. Great weather, not much wind until we turned around. We had the summit to ourselves- won't happen unless you get an early start. Nice hike.

less snow than I expected, timing was good because storm with high winds and blowing snow came in as I returned to Loveland Pass-- definitely a reminder to go prepared even on short, easy treks

SW Ridge
A quick 90 minute up and back jaunt. Good mountain for conditioning with views!
This was a quick outing for Haliku and me. The route was windswept and straight forward. Overall, this was a leisurely ascent with great views.

Got an early 7:00am start to beat the crowds at Loveland Pass. Great views from the ridge. Sat alone on the summit for about a half hour soaking it all in!

Hiked this with my wife and brother. It was super windy with gusts easily over 40 mph. Other than the wind it was a good hike for a saturday morning.

This was my most recent climb of this convenient peak. I often drive to Denver for business and the last few years I have made it a point to stretch my legs here. Beautiful views.

Very windy and visibility was limited due to a storm that blew in. Two others were hiking up to the ridge to ski a chute back to their card on US6.
The round trip was under 3 hours, and the snow cover was very limited. There were alot of cornices on the final pitch, but I stayed on the trail and to the west side to avoid them.
