No People
It's becoming more and more rare get the pleasure of being alone on a hike, and I enjoyed that on Mount Cardwell. I did it because it's the tallest mountain in Wastach county... I did that counties highest point awhile ago but that was so lame I decided to also climb the tallest mountain.

Wasatch County High Point
After hiking Bald Mountain, made a quick hike over to the Wasatch County high point to bag Utah county high point #8. Even with the GPS coordinates given on the trip reports, it took me a while to find the actual cairn with the register, which was a little further northwest and behind some trees than where I was initially looking.

Scrambled up from the south east face from Pyramid Lake then down climbed and traversed the cliffs above the lake after reaching the top. Sprained my ankle the night before jumping over our campfire so the loose rock and boulders made for an interesting trip. All and all another beautiful day in the Uintas.

Quick hike
Hiked up to Cardwell after stopping by the county highpoint and Murdock. Lots of snow fields but nothing that wasn't manageable. The scenery up there is fantastic.
Climbed with my 5 year old son. Other than some thunderstorms, it was an easy peak. Finding the liner on Murdock Mountain took some GPS work, but found a cairn and a register placed on it. I could not find a register on top of Mount Cardwell. One more Utah county highpoint to go, bring on Eccentric Peak

Wasatch Highpoint
Worked my way cross-country most of the way, some on snowshoes, some boulder hopping, then a little bit of snow close to the summit.

Nice Hike
Followed the ridge line mostly. Hit the side of Murdock Mountain, then across the boulders to Cardwell.
Hiked to the top of Mount Cardwell and Murdock Mountain. I was able to easily find the Wasatch county highpoint thanks to the good trip report and directions.

winter, fall, and summer
3/11/2009
Skied from MM 14.6 on the Mirror Lake Highway almost to MM 29, just before Bald Mt. Pass and then made a bee line for the summit of Murdock. After doing that one, went over to Cardwell and then back to the highway at about MM 28. The whole thing was about 32 miles RT and took 12 hours. It was a beautiful day, cold to start, about 5 degrees, but by 10:30 temps were quite pleasant. With a recent snowfall, the going was slow on the highway and I even had to break trail for awhile before the snowmobilers showed up.
10/24/2007
Mostly snowshoed to the summit from the highway, which was still open, but there were still a lot of rocks sticking out so sometimes I had to carry the snowshoes. Found 2 geocaches near the summit. One of them I found right away, but the other required a lot of digging through the snow.

Did Murdock and Cardwell after doing Scout Peak, Lofty Peak, and 10975.
