Street & Nye
Hiked in from ADK Hart Lake. Pretty day, good temps. Easy hiking and didn't need my crampons or micro spikes until the very end. Good views.

Second of the day
The summit has no views but there is one boulder on the way up very near the summit that gives an excellent view of many other high peaks in the area.

Hiked with Street
Pretty easy hike. The climb itself was fun, but as mentioned there are no views. The trail is easy to follow. There are a lot of blowdowns the last .5 miles or so that slowed me down a bit.

Street/nye
Street/Nye was the first real herd path i had been on, and it was not hard to follow but very muddy. Definitely one of the most adventurous trails i've been on.

NYE STREET
#'s 6&7. Lost function in the Nikon on this one due to the humidity is my guess..:( This trail is absolutely gorgeous! There is a brook crossing with no bridge, tons of gorgeous Betula alleghaniensis (aka Yellow Birch), giant cedar trees (the biggest I've ever seen), and a good deal of the start of the up is done with a beautiful brook next to the trail! On the way down along the brook I saw some early iron hoops and sugaring buckets along with an iron stove. NYE is a holdover from the original 46...It is not actually 4000 ft. or higher it is a faux 46er. It is still grandfathered in however. Couchsachraga is also a faux 46er. McNaughton is not a 46er yet measures in at 4000 ft. Silly surveyors.

Cold Day
Summited Nye Mountain on a cold, partly cloudy sunday in February. After arriving around 6:30am and parking at the Adirondack Loj, we headed up the Old Nye Ski Trail to the unmarked herd path and followed that up to the summit. The summit at 3895' was marked by a small yellow tag and unfortunatly did not offer a view of nearby mountains such as Algonquin & Iroquois due to tree and cloud cover. We then proceeded to summit Nye's neighbor Street Mountain.

Fine day in the 'Dacks
Pleasant early fall day hike with buddy RD Jim. Moderate grades, some decent views from the top despite the haze. "Trailess" trail is easy to follow. #35/46.
I thought the views were good with the leaves off, better from Street, some snow up top still, didn't need snowshoes though. Views from Heart Lake of snow capped Algonquin and Marcy were great!

Nye and Street
Started hiking at 10.5 AM from heart lake with our snowshoes strapped on our back. Mostly easy hike, hard packed snow, no ice. Microspikes were sufficent. Sky cleared as we ascended Nye and then Street. Nice (but limited) view on both summit. Nice temp and weather. We were back by 5 PM. After reading many trail reports, winter hiking those summits looks to be the best way to climb those two.

Muddy
Climbed with Street. It was unseasonably warm and windy! Herd Path was easy to follow but there was a bit of blowdown to contend with. No views. Definitely a peak baggers mountain.

Easiest 46'er
An unexpectedly warm day...and sunny too! The trail was covered in fall leaves, and of course muddy in parts. At least the cold nights froze the ground, which was a welcome relief. Not too hard to follow as long as I paid attention. Not much for views and I almost missed the "NYE" sign high up on a tree right on the summit. Did this one before Street Mt since it was closer, which I think worked out well since I saved the good views for last. Easy hike up really...maybe the easiest 46'er ???

It's a dirty job
I was covered in mud by the time I reached the summit. I didn't particularly enjoy the mountain. It was the first time I saw Heart Lake though.
Muddy, muddy, muddy... Street was even worse. However, I did enjoy the sloppy conditions in a strange way.

Nye Mountain
Climbed with Street via the Heart Lake Trail from the Adirondack Loj. Herd path was in pretty good shape. Nothing like what it used to be. Not much in the way of views. A great hike to do during the fall foliage season.

From Loj
Hit Street first, then came over to grab Nye. No views, but this marked the half-way point! Peak #23/46! : ) Beautiful with all the snow and a fun snowshoe/skate back to the car. Great day to be in the High Peaks!
