Motel
Hiked past the motel on the way to the summit. Cool little mountain but crowded even in November.

Nice way to finish a trail like the Devil's Path. Loved the old resort ruins.

Good times...
The first mile will definitely wake you up, especially if you're backpacking. The hotel ruins are interesting, and the broad flat summit makes a nice place for lunch, if the wind isn't too heavy.
A couple mile's hike beyond the summit, is a trail on the left that takes you to Echo Lake. There's a shelter and a privy there, but since it's been 18 years since I've been there, I can't attest to the condition.
From Overlook, you can access an extensive trail system that leads you to the AT via the Phoenecia Trail.

White Out
Hiked up in winter 2010 during a snowstorm and camped somewhere just below the top. Old hotel ruins were pretty interesting, but because of the snow we had zero view at the summit.

Super snowy!
Got to the top and saw a great view even though it was snowing in some areas. Great hike!

Backpack to Geocache
Got here late in the day and found the summit all to myself. Climbed firetower and "poked around". With little time left to the daylight I camped out on the windy south ridge. The day had started out mild and by the evening it was
d--m cold. Water to be found in cistern near ruins.

Ruins & A Firetower
Easy road hike up, many folks on the trail, Woodstock Film Festival in town. Ruins of the old Mountain House complex were fun to explore. The views from the tower were good, views from a nearby ledge of the Hudson Valley and the Reservoir were great.

My parents introduced me to this area in the late 60's as a child and have always loved to return. Most recent was 2002 with my mother via Overlook Hotel.
