Climbed the N Ridge w/ Matt and Brenton. Fantastic alpine route in great conditions on a beautiful day! Doesn't get much better in the Wasatch..

Couldn't be more perfect
I am so happy I finally made time to do this peak. It was such a perfect day for it as well. There was barely a breeze on the top and ridge line and the air was clear and cool. This peak looks very daunting from the ridge, however, it proved to be a much easier climb then it looked. I would really like to come back in the spring and give it another try.

Slept on Top
Via Red Pine. Camped on the saddle between White Baldy and Pfeiff. Great views of Box Elder and Timp. Saw over 75 people on the trail coming up but only three on the summit ridge.
I always seem to get diverted or distracted when I set out to go up the Pfeiff, so it was great to finally get to the top. Beautiful day, great view. I used the standard Red Pine route.

Beatout !
I went with my good friend, Bryan. This was the first time for both of us being on the Red Pine Trail. We made it to the top of the summit in a couple hours. On top, we decided to make it a day and do the Beatout Hike. So we continued west and went down Bells Canyon. It took ALL day. Great hike!!!!!!!!

North Ridge
Climbed with Lubos Pavel under beautiful Springtime conditions in a high-snow year. One of my favorite local peak climbs.
Skied in from White Pine, bootpacked up the Maybird Headwall and summited solo. Proceeded to ski down the headwall; great snow for late April! Skied mashed potatoes/sun crust all the way back to the car. 5 hours round trip.

Unfinished Business
A week or so before the 4th I attempted to climb the Pfeifferhorn, but went up White Pine Canyon by accident. Upon realizing our mistake we traversed up and over the ridge separating the two canyons, and kept pushing up to the saddle. At that point I was spent from breaking trail over some unforgiving terrain and decided to knock it off another day. It felt good to take care of that unfinished business.
One of my favorite peaks in the Wasatch. Went with my younger brother and brother-in-law. Had a great time. Camped right by Red Pine lake. Perfect weather.

Via Red Pine
I love the Lone Peaks! The sharp ridges, the glacieral valleys cut through the granite mountains. The class three talus-pile ridges make for fun climbs to the summit. There's lots of water coming up red pine, even within the last hour or two from the summit. We went up at night and hit the summit in the morning. Lots of great places to camp.

From Chipman Peak
May 19, 2012 - Did the beatout route with Joe B, Pfeifferhorn is the first peak.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
June 5, 2010, I wasn't really planning on summiting the Pfeifferhorn but I was in the neighborhood having climbed up to the Obelisk on the Hogum Hogback (divide). My first time up it via the Maybird headwall, which I found to be much faster than the east ridge via Red Pine Lake.
July 31, 2009 -- From Chipman Peak
Walked up to the 2nd Hamongog from Alpine, then strolled over to Lake Hardy and on up to Chipman peak and then over to the Pfeifferhorn. Traversed the Pfeifferhorn and bushwacked south to the base of Box Elder Peak where we hooked up on the Deer Creek Trail, and then the North Mountain trail which took us to the first Hamongog, and from there back to our camp at the 2nd Hamongog. 16 hour day!!!
September 15, 2007 -- Via East Ridge from Upper Red Pine Lake
I love the views from the peaks in the Lone Peak Wilderness, and Pfeifferhorn is no exception. It's great to be able to see into both Utah and Salt Lake counties. This is a great trip to do as an overnighter, cause there are lots of places to camp along the way that have access to water. Pfeifferhorn is a pretty easy summer climb.
Couldn't find a partner, so went alone. From Upper Red Pine Lake I drifted towards the east too much and made the summit ridge at the base of White Baldy...so it made for an extra long scramble along the ridge to Pheifferhorn. This is one of my favorite hikes! I had the mountain to myself the whole time I was up there. Finally saw other hikers on the way down.
Via Red Pine Lake
Beautiful day, with surprisingly clear views of the entire valley and most of the Wasatch range. I met a couple other climbers at the right before the beginning of the summit pyramid and we all summited together; it was a truely great day.
Wonderful hike as it is every year! I was a little low on my energy level, but we still made good timing. Thank you, Jennie, for going with me. As popular of a hike as the Pfeiff is, I've never had to wait so much for people as they went across the scramble on the ridge. I didnt mind though. It's good sometimes to see so many people in the mtns. good times!
2 summer and 1 late spring climb
July 1996 - successful trip to/from Red Pine
August 2005 - unsuccessful attempt via Maybird Headwall; some less experienced group members were too slow at boulder-hopping and we ran out of time and had no headlamps or flashlights so had to turn around.
August 17, 2008 - successful loop up Red Pine, down Maybird Gulch. The mountain showed much more human impact from its popularity than I remember from 12 years ago, but there was total solitude in Maybird Gulch.
June 3, 2012 - snow climb up Red Pine, glissade down Maybird. It's 2012, so add 3-4 weeks to get an idea of the snow conditions. People w/out ice axes were able to go around the snow all the way up the summit pyramid, but why go out of your way to have less fun?
