Devil's Path  Sucess!

Fun peak. Steep, and then a nice long ridge walk. One of the easiest on the DP.

Numerous Ascents  Sucess!

Like the rest of the Devil's Path peaks, I've been up Plateau in numerous ways at numerous times of the year in numerous combinations. I love them all though! Another rugged, fun Catskills excursion!

Plateau and Windham High Peak  Sucess!

Climbed Plateau, then made a quick drive over to Windham.
Great hike. A cool 42F most of the day. Moderate snowfall while climbing Plateau and close to 2 inches on the summit! Due to the slick conditions, it took about 3 hours to complete Plateau. Windham took less than 3 hours to complete. Another couple down!

trash pickup  Sucess!

Wasn't planning on doing this mountain but after Hunter I saw the trail for this on the side of the road and I said "why not?" The first fifty minutes was a sharp uphill climb but the top was a nice walk along a wooded mountain with occasional overlooks here and there. Weather was atrocious and went back down with a plastic trash bag full of trash left at the overlook. Hopefully someone else can get the cans I missed (I was already taxed just trying to keep the bag from falling apart).

Fun, but tiring  Sucess!

Had to break trail in about 5 feet of snow. I made it though, and got to jump down the steep sections, which was a blast!

Plateau Mountain  Sucess!

Climbed with Sugarloaf and Twin via the Devil's Path from Elka Park Road. A good fall hike with some great foliage this time of year. A steep climb to the summit from the notch. Not much in the way of views.

One more before home  Sucess!

Last one of my three days there. Steep, tiring hike first thing in the morning. Up from Mink Hollow Road. Easiest hiking across the top ending in two amazing views. Really enjoyed this one. Only butt-planted once on the way down. Rock wet from thunderstorms the night before.

burly  Sucess!

came in from the roaring kill trailhead. hike was certainly as described by others, steep and taxing. wanted to climb sugarloaf too but the snow started down hard, but made for a very enjoyable return watching the trail become invisible beneath the snow.

The one that started it all!

With nothing else to do, I took a friend up on an offer to "go for a walk". This was my introduction to what has become a most enjoyable way of life.
