Cascade to Marcy Airfield
We had 2 cars (party of 7). Left one at Marcy airfield and started hiking to Cascade (2nd time for me) from the 73. Extremely windy on top (60-70 mph gust), but beautiful sunny and hot for this time of year. We had lunch at the junction between Cascade and Porter. We then hiked to Porter, by Blueberry Mt and down to Marcy Airfield. The trail between Porter and Blueberry was maintained but it was clear it isn't a frequently travelled route. The views all around were beautiful.
Enjoyed the less crowded small summit of this peak, twice, once in fall '04 again in summer '10. Nice views back to Cascade summit and the Great Range.

With Cascade
Went to Porter first and then Cascade with my wife from Rt 73. A pretty cloudy day with little views but was fun to snag a couple more high peaks.

Cloudy but awesome
54 degrees and misty in August??? Climbed into low-hanging clouds during my hike on Cascade and Porter. Awesome hike, though. Just wish the views were better. Maybe next time.
One of the muddiest hikes I did. I got an early start and wasn't rewarded at all, because of cloudy skies. I was coming back down and herds of people were heading up to Cascade I imagine. It was weird seeing all these little kids, because I was thinking they are not going to enjoy hiking through puddles of mud, only to be rewarded with zero views.

Porter Mountain
Climbed via the Porter Mountain Trail from the Garden. Had blueberries along the hike for almost the whole way. The summit offered some respite from the crowds on Cascade and the views were just as good as the ones on its more popular neighbor.

From 73
Did Nippletop and Dial the day before, headed to Porter, then on to Cascade. Made for a full weekend! Beautiful day in the ADK's. Probably one of the best ever. Sunny, mild, barely a breath of wind. Enjoyed phenomenal views from Porter--icy and a bit slippery on top. Headed to Cascade from there. 18/46
