I climbed something
I'm not super great at map reading and there are bunches of impressive looking domes in the immediate area. Took my best guess from the description...declared victory and enjoyed the view. I think it was the right dome?

Short and sweet
What a fun scramble up to the top! The graffiti detracts from the wilderness feeling, but views down to Fire Canyon really are something. Felt bad at accidentally knocking a piece of sandstone off the "waves" you climb near the summit, but I imagine much of it has met the same fate over years of heavy use. :/

Short & Sweet & Hot
Swung by Valley of Fire State Park on the way home from Las Vegas to St. George. It was in the mid- to high-nineties when I arrived so I was only able to scramble up this dome before leaving but it was fun and beautiful. Can't wait to go back.

Short, pleasant hike
In October 2012, while the Fire Canyon Road was closed for repairs, I attempted a "cross-country" hike up to Silica Dome from Mouse Tank, I believe. While short as the bird flies, it ended up being several hours of up-and-down through endless ravines. I got close, but the day was hotter than expected, and water started to get short, so I wisely bailed since no one would have ever found me if I'd had any trouble. I returned nearly a year later -- the road is open, and my wife was with me, and we took a nice short walk out on a hot and (surprisingly) humid morning.

Silica Dome
A short climb. I enjoyed seeing where the red and white/yellow rock meet each other. You get a great view of this from the top.

Silica
Easy hike when done the most common way from the dirt lot lookout, but for the little effort you get an eyeful of Fire Canyon. I spent almost an hour relaxing up there the first time.

Big horns!
Walked up the dome for a different perspective and sat for an hour watching a few bighorns that weren't visible from the parking area.

All alone!
The views are great from atop Silica. Can't say enough about VOF . . . great camping, hiking, bouldering, everything. Lost myself hiking various canyons for a few hours one day. Really tranquil.

Silica Dome
Went up Silica Dome during my first trip to Valley of Fire. Also did several hikes while I was there. Had a great view from the summit as a storm was moving through and clouds filled the valley.
