Hiked the Wasatch Crest from Guardsman Pass to the top of Millcreek Canyon. Went to Guardsman Peak, Scott Hill, Peak 10,009, Silver Peak, Desolation Peak, and Murdock Peak. Our main goal was to see the fall colors.
My original plans was to hike to Desolation Lake via Beartrap Fork, but mistook where I was and hiked to the lake by Mill D. Got to the lake and decided to hike to the top of Desolation Peak and then hiked the ridge to Silver. Came out via Mill D Fork in the dark.

Wasatch Crest run
Started at Guardsman and went all the way to Desolation Peak and then out Mill D for a total of 9.25 miles. What a fantastic morning to be in the Wasatch with IMO the best sunrise of the year over the Wasatch peaks bathed in a full moon. Made it to work just after 8:00 AM.

ski tour
I didn't realize this was named. Shortly after my Avalanche I class, my buddy from the class and I picked this area as an educational but relatively safe place to poke around after a few days of very windy storms. We took the south ridge which we gained from Beartrap Fork (less efficient than just going all the way up Beartrap). Cornice-cutting practice culminated in a huge one being splattered into Dutch Draw, triggering nothing, and then we skied a lap in Beartrap and a couple in what I think people call North Willows.
Skinned up on my skis from BCC via Beartrap fork to Peak 9990, then followed the ridge south to Silver Peak, skied down Dutch Draw, returned to Peak 9990 and Silver Peak, then skied down into Beartrap fork. The snow in Dutch Draw was pretty good, but in Beartrap it was very sticky.
The first time I was on 9990 and Silver I cheated by using the lift at the Canyons ski resort, that was February 2(?), 2008.
This was my 5th or 6th time to this nice little peak, but my first time in winter. We generally take the Bear Trap Fork ascent, hit Desolation Peak, Silver, unnamed 10009, Scott Hill and move along the Brighton Bowl as long as time permits. Having generous amounts of snow along this ridge is wonderful. #7 on 9-14-10 w/ JP Lewis. Bear Trap Fork and the Brighton Ridge Run to Mt. Majestic. Fall colors making splendid debut for 2010. #8 1-3-12 Solo. Hit Desolation Peak and Scott Hill, too before reversing for the r/t. Not a lot of snow for this time of year. :( #9 04-16-24 W/Lana. Bear Trap Fork gully in snowshoes. Desolation Pk first, nicely corniced north ridge to the top. Peak #14 in my 80in80 quest.

Wasatch Crest Run
Done this peak a couple times as part of a run from either Gaurdsman Pass or the trurnout for Scott Hill. I like ZeeJays, loop idea alot more though. Loops are way better than there and backs.
