After a pounding rain
Two hours up from the Notch Lake TH. It rained the night before from midnight to 9 AM so the trail was a stream in places and very slick. The herd path to the ridgeline was easily identifiable a bit past the lean to and the path to the summit was marked with a small cairn. As always the Devil's Path did not disappoint.

Rusk, Hunter, Leavitt's loop
20F at the start! Warming to about 35F on the summits. Sun was shining most of the day until the clouds rolled in for the last 2 hours. Rusk Mountain was the highlight of the trip: loved it! Took about 7 hours for all 3 peaks, about 12.7mi round trip.

Up Becker Hollow
Up Becker Hollow to the DP, then herd path. Part of a 7 - peak weekend with Hunter, Rusk, Windham, Blackhead, Black Dome, and Thomas Cole.
Hiked up STEEP trail from Notch Lake TH, switchbacks helped a bit, used herdpath to summit, signed register, some limited views through trees, wildflowers just coming out, hot spring day.

good fall day
It was a nice fall day in the Catskills. I ran into a bunch of veteran catskill hikers, who just happened to be going to SW Hunter. I was at the intersection of the Devil's path and Hunter Mountain trail, taking a break, debating whether or not to do it, or just go to Hunter. They asked if I wanted to join, so that was that. I did go on to Hunter afterwards. This had a good herd path. No views on the top, but it was still a good hike, especially if you go on to Hunter afterwards. The fall colors were nice.

Wanted to extend the day after doing Hunter
After summitting Hunter, wanted to do a little more than hike out, so we went over and did SW Hunter. Very easy once you are on the ridge. Herds Path not to difficult to find once past the lean-to. Herds Path is pretty obvious through the woods. Climb the last 100 or so feet to the canister. Nice to see a canister - all the ones in the ADKs have been gone for years - nice memories.
