E. and N. Ridges
Did this nice, easy hike with my wife on a lazy Sunday. Started at the Catherine Pass parking area, hiked to the saddle between Baldy and Sugarloaf, went up the east ridge, came down the north side to Cecret Lake. Nice little loop, and great views for such an easy 11er.

fun summit
1. hiked up through Albion Basin, and up the north ridge. I was the only one on the summit, and not many hikers down at the lake. An awesome view! A helicopter came and buzzed around me for a minute, I am not sure why. (1995 or so)
2. backpacked at Pittsburgh Lake, scrambled up the ridge descending south from Sugarloaf, followed the Bullion Divide over Baldy and onto Hidden Peak. Talked the Tram operator into letting us ride down for free. Hitch-hiked down the canyon and caught a bus home. Awesome little trip.
I love hiking through the Albion Basin in the summer. The wildflowers are amazing!! I hiked up to Sugarloaf twice in Aug. 2005. Once with my friend Skyler and the second with my friend Carmen. On that second time I summited I met Slade Knightly who is now a very close friend of mine!

Took off from the Albion Basin at 6am to Sugarloaf to watch the sunrise from the summit. The Cottonwood Ridge looks especially menacing at this time in the morning. The light creates powerful lines giving the ridge an added ruggedness. The east side of Timpanogos also looked cool in the morning light. Great, quick hike. Beautiful surroundings. Crisp, cold morning breeze. Can't ask for anything more.

I was to follow the trail taking me to the pass between Devil's Castle and Sugarloaf, however I lost my way with all the rock around me. I ended up climbing the talus field and scree up to the summit. Discovered an unexploded avalauncher rocket lying on the scree but I was able to go around it and leave it undisturbed. Went back down via a much easier trail via Germania Pass.

This is a fun easy summit and I do it every year to warm up for bigger and better peaks.
10/22/2010- With Jun32. Lunch break run. The ridge was incredibly cold, as a storm was moving in. To the summit in 50 minutes and stayed less than a second because of the cold wind.
6/28/12- Hit Sugarloaf, Baldy, Hidden, AF Twins and Red Stack.

A nice hike to escape the summer heat in Salt Lake City. We started at the Albion Basin Campground, visited Cecreit Lake, Germania Pass and up the Weat ridge to the summit. We decended the East ridge and went on to Devil's Castle.
Route Climbed: East Ridge, North Ridge Date Climbed: July 21, 2002
We hiked over to Sugarloaf after climbing the first summit of Devils Castle. This is one of the easiest peaks to climb in the Wasatch. We descended the north ridge back to Albion Basin.
Route Climbed: Cecret Lake Date Climbed: Oct. 15, 2004
Great afternoon summit. This one only takes 2-3 hrs. round trip. Good for starters or wives that just don't understand why you would ever want to climb a mountain.
Route Climbed: Secret Lake, descended to Sugarloaf/Baldy saddle Date Climbed: July 2004
Nice steep class 2 hike. I did this peak to start off the Bullion Divide ridge run, going to White Baldy and down Red Pine, making for a good day of scrambling.
