Summit shots

We all normally make a summit shot when we have reached the top of a mountain.

This album shall collect these summit shots in one album.

Please add your pictures showing you on the top of a mountain to this album.
I also try to add more and more summit shots to this album.

Re: Hero Shots

@ Erik:
When I reach a summit I make a photo as a remembrance that I was there. I agree with you to summit peaks to be part of nature. There are unknown summits which can give you more than a famous.
But I think it´s unfair to vote this idea of an album with 1 point. You don´t need to vote if you don´t like it. Compare where s.th. at SP is voted with 1 point: Only when it should be deleted because it´s totally bullshit or it´s content has worst aims. But it´s your decision.

@ OlympicMtnBoy:
Thanks for your comment. You are right, climbers want to remember where they have been.

Re: Hero Shots

I guess with the new SP voting habit voting 1/10 for stuff that is mediocrate is like voting 10/10 for stuff that is so-so or OK.
So after all a few 1/10 too much compensate the 10/10s that are too much and all is good.

Personally I find albums like that dispensable since they do not display information, nor have particular scenery (or a dude hidding most of it) and for me a summit is a personal pleasure, perhaps something to top a trip report with, but an album - well, I do not need somebody putting together an album so that I can remember where I have been, only perhaps to let others know where I have been. Well, let everybody have her/his say and vote.

Personally, I find 1/10 harsh but as long nobody votes 5-7 it seems a logic consequence.

Re: Hero Shots

I also climb mountains to be a part of God's creation, and I know no mountain can be conquered by any man as it will be there long after my bones are dust, nor do I have a tick list. However, I will continue to take summit shots as memories of my accomplishments, as I know when I am old and gray I won't remember unless reminded by a picture.

I don't think that a summit shot is useless for others either. I think many summit shots can be very inspirational. When I first saw a summit shot of Mount Cook in Climbing Mag it made me want to climb it all the more, and now my profile picture is of my own accomplishment on Cook. Now, please, is this not an inspiring picture?!

Why do we have to be so critical of other's COMPLETELY harmless actions? Let alone a photograph? What is so wrong with people being happy they reached the top and want to take a picture and share it with others? Are we also not to take pictures when we graduate from school or get married? Or must we only take pictures of when we are studying or going on a date? How far does this anti-Hero Shots leak into our everyday lives?

Re: Hero Shots

Great photos!!!
It's not a easy thing to be there. Only the people with persistence and willpower can do that.

No prob with a hero shot album

except it really deserves a bad score. Other than that, why not?

Re: God forbid!

Cheers. I have not summited Everest, and probably never well, but you better believe if I did I'd take more than one picture! I'm proud of my accomplishments and cherish the memories of all my adventures.

Most of these....

summit shots were taken on mountains above 14000'. Quite impressive. The quality of the photos are quite good. This album is OK as long as it doesn't get a bunch of pictures from the drive-up to Panorama Point, Nebraska.

Re: Most of these....

You´re right. There should only be summit shots of "real" mountains which you only can reach by "fair means".
I check it regularly - shots from panoramic points or s.th. like this will be deleted.

Vicarious Pleasure

These shots are wonderful and these are "real mountains". I can see the sense of accomplishment in the smiles of the climbers. You should take pride in what you've done!
I'm not a climber (yet - just starting out) but I love this stuff!

I like this album

I take summit shots to remind myself of what is possible with hard work and dedication...and, I am happy to see others having reached their goals.
