awesome day
Highline Trail to Grinnell Glacier Overlook to Swiftcurrent Mountain to Many Glacier Hotel - somewhere in the vacinity of 19 miles. awesome weather, spectacular views from the summit.
Also ascended via Highline Trail to Swiftcurrent Pass and down to Many Glacier Hotel with a great group of friends on September 15, 2010.
Hiked in-and-out from Swiftcurrent Trailhead on August 14, 2014. Threatening weather that held for most of the day. Enjoyed the full GNP experience on this one; rain, sunshine, rainbows, bear, moose, ripe huckleberries and bighorn sheep. The Swiftcurrent Valley is truly one of the most magical places in the entire park!

From the Loop
a nice hike up from the loop. the previous time i entered at the loop was exactly one day before the '03 fires began--quite a different landscape now.

From Many Glacier
Did this during a freakish heat wave. Temps were in the 90s at Many Glacier, so I started by 7am and didn't see anyone on the trail on the way up other than a trail crew, who gave me a set of binocs to check out two wolverines in the snowfields below the Swiftcurrent Glacier. Nobody was in the lookout that day, but the air was clear and the views were spectacular.

From Many Glacier
Spent a beautiful day hiking from Many Glacier CG up to the Lookout and back - nice 16 mile RT. Views were a little hazy due to the fires but otherwise, perfect day!

From the Chalet
Did a quick afternoon trip up here, spent some time talking to the ranger in the lookout, who turned out to be a teacher, too. Visibility was poor because of smoke, but it was still an impressive view..
