Subway
I've been waiting to hike to the Subway in winter and this year the conditions were just right. It had rained a lot the day before and everything was covered in ice and the creek was partially frozen. It is an amazing sight and I'm glad I finally got to see it. Hiked from the bottom up and it was slow going but there was enough daylight to get it done in January.

First Time
Holly scored a permit. Judy, Duc, Liz, Sara, and I joined. We camped on BLM land and started around 8 am. Pretty easy canyon. The water was chilly though it was supposed to be in the 90s. Some got by without wetsuits. We finished up around 5 pm. Beautiful place with amazing little creatures including trout and Jerusalem bugs. Loved it!

Subway and Russell
Glad we had wetsuits even though it was 85 out. Combined with Russell Gulch.

first zion canyon
great route going in and out of the water with multiple, interesting, short obstacles. wetsuit was a godsend, but i should have worn wet shoes also. feet froze!
Hiked down the left fork creek (aka subway), and the water was high and dirty due to a flash flood the day before. Loved it.

Don't ask me how many times I fell... it's slippery, OKAY?
So listen... I played in the waters of The Subway for an unnecessarily long time (like stupid silly long), and I didn't get cold, but I think I'm a freak of nature... if you're a normal human, you might want a wetsuit. This is probably one of the prettiest places I've ever been, and it's such a fun adventure. Rappelling! Swimming! Ambling! Find yourself a permit, a wetsuit, and a harness, and get yourself down there. It will not disappoint!

Frigid
I have never felt water so cold as I did in the Subway. They aren't kidding when they give you warning! It wasn't even a cold day out! However, it was worth every bit of the cold. This was my second time down it and just as amazing as I remember. However don't take this just as a walk in the park because it is popular, it is cold and requires some work, make sure you have someone knowing with ropes.

Cold Water but NBD
So...the water was cold enough that it hurt certain body parts coming out. It was so worth it though. This is such an amazing place. I highly recommend it if you find the means.
Fun outing. Wish I lived closer to Utah's canyons.

One of my favorites
Awesome canyon! I wanted to see what all the hype was about. Not going to lie, I came in with low expectations. The Subway exceeded those expectations. It is just such a pretty canyon and is a lot of fun! No other canyon i have down is like it and that makes it one of my favorites without a doubt. I used a wetsuit, but my three other friends who went with me didn't and they were alright. We brought a 30m rope..which was perfect! The hike out kind of sucked, but it was worth it!

Wet Suit Please
If your skills permit, it is well worth visiting this section of the canyon top to bottom. Note: As of 9/30/11 the "bowling Ball" now has a large log jammed against the ball and requires swimming under and around the log.
