West Buttress, 20 day expedition (self-guided)
Spent 20 days on the mountain, summited on day 18 (5/31/21). Had spent 9 nights at 14k camp waiting for a good 2-day weather window. Built quite the camp while waiting. TR video: https://youtu.be/mc5FeTgzSGs

Denali summit ski from 14 camp
Beautiful day, great weather, peaceful summit. We (party of four skiers) believe we were last to the top, reaching the summit at 8pm I’m perfectly calm, almost warm
enough to be in base layers weather. We had left 14 camp that morning. Joy and elation on the summit, then transitioned to ski off the top. Decent conditions for first stretch. We poked at the Messner Couloir for a long time before deciding it looked to be in awful condition with more ice than snow. Skied down to 17 camp and walked from there. Most beautiful part was the 16 k ridge in calm conditions with midnight alpenglow. Thank you Denali.

A beautiful climb, storms happened to be on our rest days so we got lucky! A lot more to explore in the range.

Great Climb
Climbed West Buttress Route with RMI. Great weather until 17K where we were pinned in for 12 days. Finally got a clear morning and summit shot. All made it safely down. Great trip.

beautiful place
can be a bit fun if you do the parts with fixed ropes unroped...way too overprotected route, but than again- there are too many idiots on it
Climbed the West Butt route again with Sue. The mountain kicked her ass and we turned around at Windy Corner. Two weeks after getting home she began training harder and plans to be back next year.

Buttin' Out
Our team originally had its sights set on the West Rib, then the Upper West Rib cutoff, but ultimately we wimped out and climbed the butt. 12 hrs RT from 17k camp. I barely felt the altitude! Great weather. Trip report and photo links coming soon.

West Buttress
After spending 6 days at the 14k' camp and then another 5 days at the 17k' camp due to high winds, summited on 5/30 Friday. Total of 19 days to the summit. Started out as a part of 5-person rope team, but was solo above the 14k' camp, as rest of the team could not wait out the storms. Fortunately, I was climbing totally self-sufficient in terms of gear from the start: my own tent, two stoves, shovel, saw, repair kits, etc.. The heavy pack and sled made the climb and the solo descent especially memorable. Denali, what a mountain! It was worth the time, money, and effort!!!
