A Beautiful Night on Mount Whitney

A Beautiful Night on Mount Whitney

Taken December 8, 2011 at Upper Boyscout Lake on the way to Mount Whitney. A 60 second shutter speed was used to capture this, the moon light made this photograph possible.

Re: Reminds

Glad my photo reminded you of such a beautiful place. Moon Light seems to bring out some of the most beautiful scenery the eye can see. Unfortunately many fail to take the effort to leave their tent and enjoy it.

WOW!

This is such a wonderful photograph--it belongs in a National Geographic issue--in a section of the magazine which features pics of photographers world-wide not on staff. Great shot!

Re: WOW!

Thanks rmac10, I should consider doing something like that some day. I still have much to learn about advanced photography.

Camera?

Hey Josh -- another fantastic pic.
What kind of camera did you use? I don't see the specs. I'm tired of my grainy night shots and looking to upgrade.

Re: Camera?

Thanks Chris. I shot this with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 using a 60 second shutter speed and a f/stop of 3.3. Recently I got a Panasonic DMC-GF3 which in my opinion is a lot nicer. A little more weight, but I definitely notice a huge difference. It's lenses are detachable too which means you can swap from light to heavy depending on what your doing. It's lighter and smaller than a SLR which is a nice bonus. I got mine for a little under $200.

Re: Camera?

Thank you for the info. Nice cameras (both)!
How'd you get such a good deal on the GF3??

Re: Camera?

Ebay. I know where to look for my deals. ;-) And of course I often hate having to deal with bidding so I use the "buy now" feature and sort by price. Sometimes finding these deals takes some looking around, but with a little bit of time invested you can find all sorts of great deals out there. I check Amazon as my second choice.
