Grand and stark, yet flowing and very much alive, like the mountains that have been woven into the very fabric
of your being....I implore you, nay I beg of you.... continue to write your experience! For I want to understand too!

Re: Incredible
Thanks so much, Aaron. Over the past 35 years or so (wow!) yours and my climbing experiences, and our friendship, have meant more to me than anything. Your response is deeply moving to me. Thank you.

Re: Lots
Thanks for checking them outwhen going through several year's backlog of images, trying to pick and choose, it's amazing how much there is. They sort of just accumulate! Anyway, I appreciate the comment....

Thanks, Fred. And I've never meant anything more sincerely and fervently: I don't WANT to be off the hook for Bearhat!!!!!

Leslie...
Thank you! What you say, what you think, matters to me. I hope you know that....
You have written a stunning piece both about climbing and mortality. With the true grace of a climber who stands at the crux of a truly harrowing pitch, the kind that leaves you thinking it would be ok to stop here. You have found that inner courage and pressed on for another incredible finish. Please to continue to journal your epoch we all benefit from it. We plan on more climbs in the future with you. Bruce, Rhonda....
Thank you for taking the time, and thank you, too, for your sentiments! I plan on more climbs with you, as well, and believe me, those kind of plans and goals are, I think, quite important.
You have a very nice profile image, but I'm having trouble placing it. Where are you?
Climb safe, hope to see you this summer....

Re: Memories
I hope you know, Fred, the feeling is mutual. You and Moni, in the absolute best sense of the words, are high points.
Thats one of the best thing I have ever read. I need to turn off my computer and step away for a while.

Re: Wow.
That's a nice thing to say, thank you so very much! It's never for certain what the reaction to something like this will be, but when a sentiment is expressed as you just did, it goes a long way towards making the time and energy required to do the thing...worth while.
I assume it's real -- that you have pancreatic cancer. I hope they caught it early, or you have a less aggressive type. No wonder the article had a stream-of-consciousness feel.
I really hope you beat this, but in any case, realize that you have had a positive influence on the world.

What can I say?Moving, dreamlike, yet brutally real and honest at the same time. What courage this must have taken to write!
