"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

Persevere and be rewarded!Although shrouded in thick clouds at the start of the hike and for quite a ways, we persevered and lucked out that the clouds broke and gave us great views the rest of the day. Yippee!

Day hikeThe day before I had hiked to the Pfälzerhütte. The day started foggy, so I changed my plan and waited for improvement. Shortly before lunch, the clouds lifted somewhat, and I decided to head down the lower trail to Malbun. By the time I got there, the sun had come out. Although some clouds still hugged the Augstenberg, I figured it was good enough to take the high track back to the hut. Luckily, the weather kept improving, and I had some nice views up there.

Date Climbed: July 2004Went over the Augstenberg on the way to the Naafkopf. Took a nice break at the summit. You can see just about the whole country from the top.

Route Climbed: East RIdge Date Climbed: 20 October 2002I did this alone. After 4 hours and 10 minutes of breaking trail in the snow, I reached the summit. At times, the snow came up over my pants zipper. It was a very fatiguing climb in the snow, and nothing like the easy climb of summer, when children stand around the summit cross. I was the only one up there, and there was no sign of tracks in the past.
