Avoiding the Flood

My brother David poses in the flooded Backpackers' Campground in Yosemite during a 10 year flood on May 16, 2005. When we woke in the morning over one third of the campground was well under Tenaya Creek. The footbridge to North Pines Campground is underwater behind the trees in the background. To get to our vehicle we had to walk toward Mirror Lake and follow the road from there. Roads in and out of the valley were impassable, so the next step... hike the Mist Trail of course!

Yeah,

but don't you feel sorry for the rangers
having to go back in to restore the campground back to operation again !

And what about the taxpayers having to flip
the bill for all this destruction? : )
